I ended up getting an Atlas and returning the Magpul, much happier with the function and stability of the Atlas. With the Magpul I had, the legs didn't feel sturdy and were sloppy, and it wouldn't lock down, so the rifle would cant even when I cranked the adjustment as tight as it would go.

That's odd. I had the complete opposite experience with their level of customer service and feel they went above and beyond to take care of me on my stock purchase. I will likely never buy a stock from anyone else after the experience I had with Tom and his staff.

what would be the advantage for mounting the bipod so close to the balance point of the rifle? I realize that for tripod work you would want a mount there, just curious about why for a bipod? I just ordered the MCS for my 6.5 Creedmoor so that it can become my 7 year old son's rifle.

I debated between these two and the Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50. I ended up taking a gamble on the Athlon and have been pleased with it. Scope seems clear and tracks well. I've had it to 600 yards and hoping to stretch the legs a little further soon.
