Trying to decide between these scopes. Turret feel, glass comparison, reticles seem very similar. Anyone ran both of them? Seem very similar other than weight.
The magazine in my 6.5 creed conversion kit needed the lips cleaned up. It would visibly scratch the brass and took significant force to load. Haven't had an issue since that was straightened out. Need to run the bolt with authority...
Why someone would need anything bigger than a 6mm PPC is beyond me. Wyoming regs specify .24 caliber with a 2 inch cartridge length minimum. No sense in beating yourself up carrying a 14 pound magnum around plus the recoil.
Obviously, having you and your stuff squared away is number 1 and the biggest reason game is lost or suffers longer than it should. Be honest with yourself about your abilities. With that said, magnums are more appropriate for elk in most situations, and some people would try a17 hmr at 400...
I guess you can listen to the guy with 9 posts or the guy who shoots nearly every day with every scope worth mentioning. You know you won't regret the s&b.
Initial thoughts: Sweet Aesthetics: Looks and feels utilitarian which is a plus in my book. Interface: Simple and easy to use. Basic point and click. I have not delved into the other features. Reticle: Nice functional design. Aiming circle seems to be a good size. Glass: Not as nice as my...
Re: Whats your fav powder for 69gr 223 I shoot 25.3 grains varget with 69 grain smk out of a bushmaster varminter (24 in barrel). Velocity is right around 3130 fps if my friends chrony was right. And JBM calculator data matches up pretty good with that assumed muzzle velocity
What are some good loads for the 700P 300 Win Mag i.e. bullet, powder, and oal combinations for 1100-1500 yards? I've just purchased the rifle and my first worked up load was with 71.1 grains of reloader 22 and berger 210s 5/1000 into the lands. The muzzle velocity extremes were not acceptable...
Re: Cheek Rest The bell of the scope including the butler creek cover is about 1/4" above the barrel. I would have gone with seekins low rings but they were out of stock when I ordered, and I still would have needed a cheek rest anyways.
