Can someone please explain pro's/con's of 1-peice and 2-peice bases? Is there ever a time when 2-peice base sets are prefered over a one peice?

When you engage and disengage the safety on Remington 700's there is a noticeable click. Is it possible to make it silent? I have a Browning A-Bolt and I can put that rifle on and off safe and it is whisper quite.

Re: Rings and bases Roger that I was researching on here and herd if some issues with mixing but maybe they were isolated.

I know it's best to keep ring and base manufactures the same on a rifle but should I have any issues using Waren bases and either Nightforce or Badger rings? Badger and Nightforce don't make rings for and A-Bolt and I don't think I can upgrade my glass and rifle at the same time.

Can someone define terminal effectiveness? For instance what makes one caliber better suited for a task or a type of game. Can increasing velocity alone make a bullet that much better suited for hunting larger game or do other things cone into play like BC or weight? Example: is there a gain...

Can someone give a unbaised review of the pro's and con's and compare these actions: SURGON, TEMPLAR (GAP), and a blueprinted worked over Remington 700 action? IF someone would like to add another fee free but these 3 in particular spark interest.

In rating a caliber's effectiveness for a given job or role, how would you rate a caliber? Would a sniping caliber or round be equally effective on game as it is on a person? What determines it?

The M40A1 is arguably the best sniper rifle (under 800 yds) to date ever considering the improvements, which come at an expense i.e. weight. Do you consider the GAP Rock a sort of improved M40A1? Reasons either way..
