Yup it's the earlier Remington 700 police. That stock could be sold on here for someone looking to do an M40 Vietnam era build. Just round off the for end, and add an aluminum butt plate and some 513T swivels, and you're good to go.
Since you said Remington 700 receiver, I would go Edge or Rum. I have never seen any Lapua RUM brass. The main reason to go with the 338 Lapua Magnum, is for the Lapua Brass. I have a Rem 700 in 338 Lapua, and if I could do it over again I'd do a 338 Edge and run the Nosler brass, which I...
I would try to use a chemical stripper to remove the finish before any sanding. Then I would try to steam out the checkering using a wet cloth and a hot iron. It should lift some of the deep checkering up so you don't have to sand so much.
I bought one of the new Redfield M40 scopes that is temporarily on my M40 clone. The crosshair is a mil-dot. It looks fairly close to the older redfields, and the glass is much better. I have a first and second generation accu range at celtic rifles getting rebuilt, and re anodized green and...
Has anybody talked to Connor in a while? I sent him 2 Redfield scopes to get rebuilt on 3-4-13, and we talked back an forth a few times on what to do to the scopes. But for the last month and a half I can't get ahold of him either by phone or email. I was wondering if something happened or what...
Re: Remington 338LM MLR owners: Muzzle brake question- I got mine off and saved it. I heated the brake until the locktite smoked off (approx. 450 degrees f) and used two phillips screwdrivers to turn it off. It is torqued to like 75 ft lbs. so you really have to whack it to get it off. I...
Re: New stock ordered>>>YAY Loved it. Badger base didn't fit, so its at remington now. Ground the recoil lug down on base to fit for deer season. Marty is going to send a new base at cost. All future rings and bases will be badger. The mounting holes are .020" off on the rifle, but it shot...
Re: New stock ordered>>>YAY Nice. I ordered my first mcm too. I got it for my .308 though. M40a1 style. Are you going to use the factory bottom metal on the mcmillan? If not what are you going to use? I have a MLR also, but don't like the bottom metal.
Has anyone changed out the bottom metal on their 700 Mlr 338 Lapua magnum? Mine is a second generation with the single stack 5 round mag. I was thinking of changing it out for factory type steel bm. I shoot mostly prone and the long mag gets in the way. Just wondering if the raceway or feed...
Re: New deer gun choice? I have a MK V in .257WBY and the Remington 700 CDL Fluted in .257WBY. I like the Rem alot better, and it shoots a little better too. If your talking about the vanguard sub moa, I have no eexperince with those. I shot an antelope last fall at 503 yds with the rem and a...
Re: Source for muzzle brakes I got mine from RWS here on the Hide, for my 338 Lapua. The rifle is a 700MLR and it is a huge improvement over the factory brake. He has fast service and is very affordable.
Re: What safe are you using? I got the Browning Platinum Plus. I am very happy with it. It was not fun getting it into the basement. The door weights 600 lbs. and the safe weights 950 lbs. It is a really nice safe. They went up with the metal markets.
