Bubble levels. When my wife started shooting subsonic 300BLK at longer ranges, I told her she was canting the rifle and causing misses. I could easily see it standing behind her. It went like this: "You're canting the rifle" "No I'm not" "Yes you are" Old Married Folks. LOL So, I put a...
Update on this thread. Sent the scope back to Zeiss on 9/10 via USPS Priority Mail. It finally arrived at Zeiss on 9/28 - it sat at the Cincinnati distribution center, ten miles from its destination, for 13 days. After the 10am delivery, Zeiss sent an email at 2pm stating they had received it...
Another vote for shootingtargets7. Com. I have their KYL rack and several of the 3/16" steel which reacts well to 22s at range. Consider marking the stand "22lr" or somesuch... Pic is from my flooded range after the recent hurricane, but you can see the 22lr steel is marked.
I did. They didn't reply, so it is a throw-it-over-the-fence-and-see-what-happens situation. Thought perhaps someone here had some experience in this direction.
Had this Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10 on a M700 in 308 and had been quite happy with it for introducing friends and family to shooting steel at my range. Think I bought it around 2013. Picked it up recently and thought "The lenses really need cleaning" - but whatever is wrong with it is internal. It...
Correct; absolutely false. Some FFLs still insist that other FFLs are trying to BS them when they ask for it via email. Just another example of how unexpected problems can delay proceedings anywhere in the chain.
This is true; these issues are happening everywhere, not just in the firearms industry. Recently ordered a mini-split HVAC unit to install for an elderly person that needed help. In-stock, out-of-stock, then finally it-will-be-here-next-wednesday. It wasn't. Then it arrived from the...
Back in the 80s, I had access to a heated vapor degreaser full of MEK. Never found better for degreasing milsurps and stocks. That said, you can use a solvent , whiting and sunlight. It takes a while.
Speaking of casting for these big bullets, in my experience you need a very large spout orifice to use a bottom pour pot or you get very inconsistent results, particularly wasp-waists. I use a ladle. No need to water quench, or run the pot hot. Mine work fine at 1350fps with a nice lube star...
Great thread! Really enjoy shooting my 45-90 Shiloh with BP and bullets i cast myself. Mostly settled on a 530gr Postel over a compressed charge of Swiss 1.5. The bullet is lubed with a Paul Matthews formula. I use the Lyman 457125 in my original Trapdoor Carbine.
