The part that you need to worry about is the other side of that bolt head being flat. If you wanting the most out of it a machined bolt head , recoil lug and barrel nut would help though. Savage stamps there recoil lugs so there not always perfectly flat.
I am by no means an expert but to the best of my knowledge the part of your bolt that is damaged does not contact anything when closed and would therefore have no affect on accuracy. The back of your bolt head is what comes in contact with your receiver and therefore needs to be a machined flat...

Re: Lapping Rings i would say yes relap.i always color the ring with a prem marker and then lap so you can see when you have good contact.the low spots will hold the color when you check your progress.dont forget to keep your upper and lowers matched up too.just how i do it,never have ring...

I'm looking for some data for the 75gr. and 87gr. v-maxes.I'm using a 7.5 twist kreiger and org. built to shoot the 105-115 range which i do but want a explosive ground hog load as well.Also with the fast twist how fast can the lighter bullets be pushed without a prob?Thanks for any info.
Re: nightforce turrets talk to nightforce today,they said it should not hurt to adjust the tension screws,but if the screw is out not to turn the turret cause you may lose a bunch of little ball bearings.
ive got a nightforce 5.5-22-56 that was suposed to come from the dealer where i bought it with a set screw under the elv. turret for use as a zero stop.i dont think it did but it has a set screw in the middle of the brass turrets under both the elv and wind turrets.is this on all nightforces and...
