The method to see mirage with a spotting scope is to focus on your target and then make a 1/4 turn back. Could I do this with my rifle scope or is there a reason I should not? Just something I thought of. Thanks, John
I tried to do a search real quick on this so if anyone has a link or info on this I would appreciate it. So what my question is, is it a good idea to cant my rifle to fit me better and then level out your scope? I have heard that high power shooters do this and was thinking about trying it out...
I found this to be interesting: By using the ATrag software, one can build his own speed shooting formula for his gun. After zeroing and then truing the gun. The user then can go to the TR under TARGET and place the target size in inches (12”). Then go through the following 1.2 = 254m = 1...
I have searched all over the place for this and did not find anything. I thought I read some where a long time ago, that when you zero your rifle (say 100 yrds) you should back up to something like 300 yrds or so to true up the zero. Is this correct? Thanks, John
I know that there is the good old estimating trick picturing a football field. Are there any other eye balling tricks or techniques for estimating range? I was thinking maybe there is a way to use the size of the target? Thanks John
I just did a quick search for this and did not find anything. I am sure it had to been covered by now, so can some one point me in the right direction?
I just seen the new sniper magazine and it had an article on adjusting your scope so as to use all mils on the reticule to save from dialing kinda like a "pore mans Horus reticule" as it is said in the article. Is this a good idea, is there any problems with this? By the way I am using a center...
I tried searching for this and I found the thread from a while back where a lot of people had good ideas for stopping the bipod from sliding. I was massing around with a few ideas while dry firing and came up with the notion to just reach up with my support hand and grab the bipod by the leg. I...
I have seen lots of posts talking about "What magnification do I need for 1000 yrds" and so on. So I had a few thoughts. Is there a rule of thumb that dictates how much magnification to use at a certain range? Or is there such a thing as to much magnification at certain ranges? Also what got me...
Just wanted to through out a quick thanks to the guys at Impact and Adaptive. Over the weekend I ordered an fdac and the rets set. It got to me yesterday. So just wanted to say thanks to Impact for the speedy shipping. The rets is a very cool training tool, just the kinda thing I need. And as...
If it is 65 deg. out side and the wind chill factor brings it to 60 deg. Which number should I use for my calculations? Or does that really matter? Thanx
I have a 20" heavy stainless steel barrel in .223 on my ar. Would it be of any benefit at all to put a brake on it? I mean I know what the brake does but is it worth it to use one on something so small as a .223?
Am I correct in thinking to measure groups in moa instead of inches? I know what everyone thinks about groups but I got my AR-15 built a couple weekends ago and took it out but did not have my bi pod on it so I had to make a make shift support of a tackle box and could not really get into a good...
I am building a precision AR-15 and just waiting to get barrel and other stuff in the mail. So went and picked up a box of ultramax 75 gr heavy match hollow points (cause it was cheep lol)and was trying to find the ballistics info so I could print out a table from jbm and all I could find was bc...
I did a search for this but didn't find any thing, so if I missed the post please post it. Also I hope this is the right place to ask. So, my question is, when it is snowing out that obviously gives you the direction of the wind. Is it also a viable indicator for the wind speed? Or does some...
I had read a post some time ago and can not find it. But it was said to use rain-ex on scope lens. Is this a good idea or not. The reason I'm asking is because I am going shooting this weekend and needless to say it is raining here in WA. So I want to know will that help with getting that fog...
What I want to know is, if everything is perfect (npoa, trigger, breathing, ext) when I take my shot. After the recoil should my reticle go exactly right back where it was on the target when I take my shot or is it ok if it's off by a little bit?
