What is your criteria for sorting? I've got brass prep down pretty well, but have never bothered with sorting. I assume you are talking about case weight?
I just tried to install my new QL update CD. After running the update, starting the program still loads up version 3.6. Where did I go wrong? Both my original program disk and the update disk were purchased directly from NECO. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So I built my 20VT from a Savage 223 Hog Hunter and so far I absolutely love it... save for the ejection. After having poor ejection performance (the case drops off the bolt and onto the follower) with the stock bolt head, I added a special ejector kit from Sharp Shooter Supply. At the start...
My RCBS CM1500 shows a pretty consistent offset of about .1 grains low of intended charge weight. I am checking this against a redding Model 2 beam scale calibrated with RCBS check weights at many different target charge weights. Yes the CM does vary a bit from that -.1gr, sometimes it shows...
Grand - if I only had to remove .002", I'd be all over it. But I'm .044" over my headspace target. I am assuming I'd need to take at least .040" off the shell holder correct? That seems very excessive and indicative of a larger problem. I haven't mentioned it before, but the shell holder is...
True, dies can be out of spec. And I am thinking to put a call in to Redding. But I am using multiple dies. Are they ALL out of spec? There's a 221 FB form die, a 20 VT FL die, and then a 3-die set. All Redding. I can't imagine that they are all wrong can they?
I have used both once fired and factory new LC brass and there's only .002" less headspace using the new brass (1.090" vs 1.088" with the new LC) . If I was only off by a few thou, I wouldn't sweat it. But the normal die setting of touching plus a quarter turn has my headspace at 1.124"...
I'll definitely have to take it to be resurfaced. I did a test last night and it took a full turn and a quarter to get to 1.088" and my target is 1.080". That 1.25 turn into the press puts me at max cam-over. I have the numbers in the garage, but the normal touching plus a quarter turn only got...
Hehe... funny you should mention that. I just received mine today. They work in the opposite direction. They give less and less shoulder bump. They take a standard shelf depth of .125" and .002" up to .010". Meaning you end up with a shelf depth of .135" using the .010" shell holder. I...
Hello all. I'm forming 20 VT brass from LC233 brass. My reading shows that I should be getting a headspace somewhere near 1.080". But with my press at max cam-over, the best I can do is 1.088". Aside from machining the bottom of the dies or the top of the shell holder, is there something else I...
True... There are other bullets I can work loads up for. But my question was asking if anyone knows of a reason they've become so scarce. Even through all the panic buying, I was able to find these pills quite easily. Then suddenly they were nowhere to be found. What happened?
I have a list of about 12 web sites that I have been checking every other day or so, but it seems like the 123gr AMAX has become harder to find than unicorn farts. I know the 123gr was not on Hornady's temporary hold list. So what gives? I love this bullet out of my 6.5x47. Yes I could start...
