Savage 20VT Ejection problems :(

So I built my 20VT from a Savage 223 Hog Hunter and so far I absolutely love it... save for the ejection.

After having poor ejection performance (the case drops off the bolt and onto the follower) with the stock bolt head, I added a special ejector kit from Sharp Shooter Supply. At the start of the day yesterday, it was ejecting great. 100%. By the end of the day (about 250 rounds) it was MAYBE 1 in 10.

How have you 20VT shooters running a Savage action dealt with the ejection problem?

To work with short cases I have made an extended extractor - used a piece of filler rod. Make it stick out 1/8" above face.

Try savage shooters forum they may have better advice. I would also call sss and tell them what is going on. It is odd it was working and then started to fail. Maybe a peice of brass in the ejector?
