Re: .17 HMR Thanks for the insight. I have a .17HM2 but its useless passed 120-130 yards. Wont kill much and isnt very stable even in the slightest wind. The .22LR is better.

With spring around the corner, i am looking for a new rifle to replace my .308 ill be parting with. Does the HMR live up to the hype? I cant find good info anywhere because its hard to find anyone who shoots more than 100 yards. How bad does the wind blow it around? I have been shooting my 10/22...

I was just at my local Dicks Sporting goods and looked at a Remington 700 .308 that was just marked "Varmint" with a grassy earthtone colored stock. No SPS, ADL or anything like that marked on it. Just varmint. Is this a sps varmint?`It has the heavy contour varmint barrel but is not stamped...

Re: sorry another cleaning question I clean the chamber and bolt face regularly. Once and a while i run a dry patch down the barrel. I only do a full cleaning when the gun will be stored for a long period of time. Then its cleaned thoroughly and oiled.

Re: Competitors: 50 Yard Match? Another cool match idea...(For the .22 guys anyway) Do something where your required to shoot from 25yds to 100yds(or further). Kinda like silhouette shooting, but with paper targets and shooting off a bench or prone.
