Re: 1911 barrel re-crown No have not had the chance. I am definately going to shoot it first, but also exploring my options. Just not sure why it is all on the top of the muzzle, only thing i can think of it was carried in a fobus paddle holster with the muzzle exposrd.
Picked up a 1911 offiers model recently and the muzzle has some several dings on the top side. Just looking for suggestions on where to sent to have the muzzle re-crowned. Or would i be better off just replacing the barrel?
Re: Atlas Bipods Pros - Cons ? I was hesitant to get the atlas due to the price, but i can say it has been money well spent. Only possible con i can think of is the standard rubber feet will abrade quickly if you are shooting on rock with a high recoil rifle. Bot they do have other/better...
Re: Plate carrier questions Thanks for the suggestions. No i have not had the plates fall out but why risk it.... esp. Since many designs have the cumberbund velcro right next to the hook and loop for the plate pockets. Better safe than sorry and its just peace of mind.. what about Beez...
Looking for suggestions on a good to high quality plate carrier. Top loading for the plates since i dont want to have to worry about dropping plates...
Re: SBR Questions Damn thing what a PITA.... thanks for the clarification and advise. Looks like i will go with the 16"barrel for now esp. Since i have no immediate plans to run it suppressed.
I am considering building a .300 blackout on a 10.5" barrel. Question is at what point do i have to get the tax stamp and where would i go to get it? Also would my range be limited by the 10.5"barrel vs. A 16"bbl?
Re: .300 Win Mag.......where to start ? Depends on your rifle but i would focus on the h1000 it is stable over a wider temp range and projectile wieght range than retumbo.
Re: Question about bow Hoyg is gtg for me. I bought mine used for a great price. Just be sure to checj the strings if they have any fraying or need to be replaced you will have to pay 100-150deposits depending upon the bow shops in your area. Also left handed bows are usually cheaper as...
Re: Muzzle brake on a bolt Get a brake with a solid bottom if you ever plan to shoot prone. They are loud but so is the same rifle unbraked..either way hearing protection should be worn. Most ranges will allow them execpt during an F class match
Re: Brass catchers Netting wont completely melt but the brass will.stick causing an occasional jam... how much do you want to spend? Look at leave no trace brass catchers... have seen similar ones built for less and work flawlessly.
Re: Boot selection Thanks for the input... looking at redwings since we have a local dealer. Want to try on the dangers though so I will have to wait to make a final decision. And not looking for just a tactical boot....
I am looking for some input on boots. Need something durable and comfortable enough to stand in all day. Preferably with smooth leather tan or black since I have khaki pants for uniforms. Any suggestions on brands that would be with looking at or to stay away from?
Re: Large Brown Bear taken with Vortex Optics Congrats! I am hoping to go for black bear in Maine next year don't know that I would want something as big as your brown charging me!!!
Re: Why "not" the 6.5 Grendel? Plus its probably " too deadly" in terms of terminal ballistics and the geneva convention would not allow it in combat... since they already frown upon the use of hollowpoints.....
Re: SEALs Scope... I know!!! +1 for SS scopes... I know the aren't the best but for the money and quality they are hard to beat. Last time I was in red oak and stopped by a customer had his scope exchanged without question when it had obviously been abused to the point of neglect.. good...
Re: Finally hit the mile mark! Congrats, and green with envy here in west Texas since I can't seem to find a. Place to shoot past 600 meters. Anyone know of such a place around Midland Texas?
