    olympic

Re: olympic Oly is what Oly is. I can't imagine they're all that happy with the new competition around lately. While it's true that they're "good enough" for fun or target shooting and have a reputation for being acccurate (if not reliable), there is increasingly little reason to get an...

    reloading savings ?

Re: reloading savings ? Depending on what you shoot, you can get a functional reloading setup for the price of several boxes of factory ammo, or a couple cases of blasting ammo. You're not likely to wear most of these tools out in your lifetime. That's a benefit that sticks around much...

Fieldcraft For those afraid to paint their weapons.......

Re: For those afraid to paint their weapons....... A little krylon never hurt anything. Although if I was uncertain about things, I'd not want to start off with alumahyde. People should save themselves a lot of time, trouble, and money and test their technique on something other than...

Fieldcraft Making your own snap caps

Re: Making your own snap caps Obviously you need to be very, very careful not to have the projectile lodged in there after you're done using these, and not to use them in conjunction with live rounds for malfunction training in an autoloader.

    olympic

Re: olympic If you spend in a hurry on this you'll regret it. The way the economy is, you can't assume that you'll be able to re-sell without taking a a big loss if it turns out you don't like it, or want something else later. $200 seems a bit low for a "decent" scope, unless you're talking...

    AR choice

Re: AR choice Unless you have budget issues, the AR is a far better choice than the shotgun. - far more accurate - easier to load and manipulate - much higher capacity - easier for the recoil-sensitive to use - and most importantly, less over-penetration in building materials than buckshot...

    why not an AK?

Re: why not an AK? Having one rifle and one round is a lot better than having two rifles and no rounds, or no mags, or no food, or no gas.

    why not an AK?

Re: why not an AK? I'd love it if there was room in my life for both an AR and an AK, as well as 5.56 and 7.63x39, but there just isn't. This made for a simple decision - AR parts and ammo are available where I'm at, and it's a lot easier and faster to hit stuff with the AR.

Signs of case head seperation --- Need advice.

Re: Signs of case head seperation --- Need advic It'd be nice if some of the .223/5.56 guys could post some pics on those size cases... Maybe it's just me, but while I've never had one separate on me, I've seen it happen to others, and they seem to go about the lower 1/3 mark of the case...

    Your wife

Re: Your wife Choose wisely in the first place and this isn't an issue. My girl decided that she likes several of my firearms, so therefore she proclaimed that they are now "hers", and sells the idea by telling me that I should then go buy something nicer to replace them. Hard to argue with...
