Thanks. Sorry for the long reply time. Got busy. That's very good to know about the really low powder loads. I really appreciate your help on this topic. I'll start there and go up. At this point I'm stalled on cleaning the cases. I thought just for now with extremely low volume I could get by...
I wouldn't call it an obsession. It's just my first time ever reloading and I don't want to make a big mistake so I'm researching as much as I can. I don't mind and am even excited about trying things that aren't exactly recommended after I get more experience, but for right now I'm just trying...
So you're thinking starting at 57 grains would be safest? That's the lowest recommendation I've seen so far. I would like to start as low as I can without being way out of the realm of what is reasonable since this is my first time reloading. Thanks.
What do you mean by this exactly? Do you mean you were seeing signs of over-pressure even though you were getting low velocity? You said "no or low", does that mean sometimes the bullet wasn't even making it out of the barrel and you were experiencing signs of over-pressure? I'm sure these...
Thanks. I thought rifle specs might be relevant to this thread as well. I purchased the rifle on the FS section of this site. Here are the specs listed in that thread. Quick copy and paste so probably extra irrelevant info there as well: "Custom Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Short Action Ultra...
I'm finally getting close to reloading my first round. When I was getting components together, I noticed that lots of you use H1000 with the 180 grain bullets. Same thing on Accurate Shooter, so I bought H1000. Now that I'm finally getting close to reloading the first round, I got on the...
Thanks Boris. I got your email and I just replied to it. To anyone who is on the edge, Boris is a stand-up guy. Can't beat the service he has for his product.
There was going to be much more to that post. Then I changed my mind and decided to write an email instead. As I moved my hands from the keyboard I accidentally hit the "enter" button which caused it to start the process of submitting my post. I quickly moved the mouse and hit "stop" on the web...
As I'm sitting here staring at it, I am beginning to think that perhaps the cheapest/fastest way to do the job right will be to just sacrifice a pair of rings. I'll get a piece of round stock turned down to 30 mm. I'll have holes drilled through the round stock on the same spacing as the base...
Fist of all, I am not interested in lapping my rings. Why has the Basebed and the Basebed Bravo been discontinued? Does anyone have one they want to sell? Is there any way to align a 2-piece base so that you can bed the base properly? I have a NF 20 MOA 2-piece base, a Vortex Viper PST...
I am surprised you are allowed to mow and build berms on CRP ground. In my area, land owners are paid by the federal government to grow approved mixes of grasses on their CRP ground to reduce erosion. After you've got it growing good, you're not allowed to touch it as far as I know.
It also looks to me like the directions should say: "Using the wrong REAR base will result in damage to the scope tube!" rather than "Using the wrong FRONT base will result in damage to the scope tube!"
I bought one (Part# A111) from Mile High Shooting back in February. When it came the box had a NF label saying it was for a LA but when I opened it, the rear part of the base was labeled RS for Remington SA. The directions clearly say not to use a SA base on a LA (or vice versa) and I...
I like the idea of not depending upon electricity. Lol. I want to be able to do everything without it if I happen to be in that situation someday. Anyway, for me it's between dial and vernier. Digital currently is not entering the equation until I have everything else sorted.
