There is a pretty active junior highpower program in south east Louisiana teaching the next generation of service rifle and prone shooters. We basically provide them with everything, rifle, ammo, spotting scope, coat, etc. One of our graduates is shooting today in Spain at the World Small-bore...
Montana sling with loop near the butt. Since most of us are running it that way, is it really "upside down"? I also use both the 1907 and the M1 cotton web on occasion. I can build a really steady position with either. Dan
I mounted a vortex level in front of the front ring. If I have both eyes open it appears as if the level is in the top right area of the lens. Pretty cool effect. I am going to go shoot tomorrow and see how I like it. Thanks everyone. Dan
Does anyone have a suggestion for mounting a level where it can be seen. The position of the reticle illumination switch creates a problem with most scope tube levels. Open to suggestions re brand and position. Thanks Dan
I took a quick look at Bryan Litz' applied ballistics book and he has a chapter on "gyroscopic drift". He says it is predictable and has a formula. I guess it exists. So, what is the deal?
Reticle was lined up with the upside down T which was placed on the target board using a level. Scope was installed first by leveling the rail, then I leveled the scope. This method has worked well in the past. I can twist the scope to take out the little horizontal movement observed. Is it...
I shot two 3 shot groups sighting it in. The "big" one with a called high shot was right at .4". Running the scope up 18 MOA from its 100 yard zero moves the point of impact .4" to the left at 100 yards. I am thinking this is going to be taken care of with the spin drift of the bullet. I can't...
While at the NRA show, I had a chance to look at all of the nice glass there and the Vortex Viper PST F1 4-16x50 caught my eye. I decided that it needed to find a home on my 7 SAUM hunting rifle. So the saga begins. Two years ago, I had LA Precision build a M700 LA into a 7 SAUM with a 26" #5...

Re: (100YARD), Bolt-Action, 6groups, 30round SHOOTOUT! Squin, What velocity are you getting with that load. S.D.? How close to max pressure are you? Dan
Re: 7RSAUM Loads At 800 yards with the two loads that you described flight times are within 1/100 of a second at 800 yards so I think that is substantially a non-issue. The 168 VLD is about 1/2 MOA flatter while the 180 VLD is 1/4 MOA better in the wind, neither of which should make any...
