EG2,
You're probably going to be better off having someone do it for you instead of trying to rent a wrench unless you know which barrel nut is on your URX2. Knights made two different barrel nuts and it'd be a shame to rent a wrench and find out you have the other style barrel nut.

This is redundant after Poison's and BM's post but AI still makes the AW300/338 conversion kit per Tom Irwin (quote below). The bolt body length is the same regardless of caliber and uses the striker mechanism from the rifle/bolt combination you already own.
It is possible to buy an AW300...
Another smith who has extensive experience with Knight products is Marvin Pitts ([email protected]) who is a former Knights employee.
He upgraded my SR15 IWS to a 3.1 URX rail and did an outstanding job.

Re: Unlike any 107 that I have ever seen!
I recall seeing a pic with one wearing a red dot type optic. It was being prompted for use against helicopters and ground support aircraft.
Re: Differences between AI Military and SuB scopes
Chris,
I'm not sure about any construction differences, but in addition to the laser filter coating, the reticle is a mil-dot reticle with a ranging strata.
A similar reticle can be seen here...
Re: Interesting .338 LM rifle - identification
QuietShootr,
I bought one of these in 1993 from Darryl Reynolds for around 3k. It was the 338/416 with 308 barrel, bolt, mags also. At the time there was a gunshop in Manhattan selling one for $ 3500 but only on 338/416. The odd bit there was...
Re: Knight forearm question
GB,
There should be two (2) indexing pins located in the barrel nut that extend into the rear of the RAS.
The best way to disassemble, is to back the RAS handguard nut off (towards the rear of the rifle). Once the nut is off, the RAS can be removed by pulling...
Re: AI AW rifles or something else?
In the late 90s, AINA (in TN at the time), made up a 308 barrel and bolt body for my 338 SM/AWM as a switch caliber project. The bolt face came from the Target Rifle as it had the necessary 6 locking lugs used on the SM/AWM.
I wasn't able to come up with...
Re: First range report with the AIAW 338Lapua
The brake on Silverbullet-2's AI is the original design that came in on the the earliest AI Super Magnums when they were imported by Gunsite in AZ. AI improved the design resulting in less felt recoil.
Re: AIAW Question - run .308 out of a .300WM?
RR is correct. The folks at AINA did this for my 338LM when they were located in Oak Ridge, TN. I still haven't figured out a reliable magazine system for it though.
In the last few months there have been some questions regarding Birdsong finishes and specifically Tan-T and how it compares to other Tan/FDE/Coyote shades.
I had a 16 inch AR upper that I was looking to have finished but was initially reluctant to use the Tan-T finish as the photos I saw on...
Re: Knight's Armament URX RAS
For OEM nothing comes to mind that would be as robust as originally designed. Perhaps one o the aftermarket manufacturers currently making .308 uppers wold make a run of AR10 receivers with KAC/DPMS threads.

Re: Knight's Armament URX RAS
Eddy,
The URX screws directly on the upper receiver barrel nut threads, which are different for the Armalite and KAC/DPMS .308 platforms.

Re: Tan-T and Brown-T?
About a quarter of the way down the thread is a pic of an AR in Tan-T and Brown-T:
