Leaving a rifle on its side

A lot of good responses. I’ve learned quite a bit over the last 3 days. Let’s recap, I’ve learned 1. some 4 letter words I didn’t know 2. the hide hates beginners, anyone without a mentor. 3. the barrel will warp under the weight of the scope, but the scope will not under the weight of the...

Leaving a rifle on its side

This rifle is finally coming together. Got the scope mounted tonight but the savior soft case I ordered hasn’t made it yet. Only place to keep it out of reach from the kiddos is to put it on a top rack in my closet(I have a gun safe that I haven’t...

Leaving a rifle on its side

Thanks for all replies, even the dickhead ones. Glad I could provide u a laugh. I thought it worth asking before I risked flexing or rotating the scope without knowing.

    6.5 creedmoor ammo awareness

If I use a sharpie to color these bullets, what exactly am I looking for? I was able to pick up a box of hornady match 147gr eldm. Would the effects be more exaggerated since this is heavier that the 140 of the s&b?

    6.5 creedmoor ammo awareness

I quickly tested the ammo I had. I didn’t sharpie the end as I don’t have a stable platform like a bipod yet for it to sit while I carefully insert it. Basically I chambered both types of ammo and compared to the round next to it in the box. Neither round had obvious markings on the bullet...

    6.5 creedmoor ammo awareness

Posting this because I’m stuck purchasing factory ammo currently until I take the leap of starting reloading. 6.5 creed is almost impossible to find in my area, and when you do it’s hard to be picky as they only get random loads in. I picked up 2 boxes...

    6.5 creedmoor ammo awareness

I appreciate the suggestion. I may just call savage to see how long it’ll be gone and if they will cover shipping. I thought about trying to chamber and unchamber a few of these live rounds to see if there is any obvious signs like pulling bullets.

    6.5 creedmoor ammo awareness

I really hate to send a brand new rifle back, especially without trying it with quality ammo first. I wouldn’t hesitate if I thought it was defective. I may try some of this Winchester and hornady match if I can find it to see if it shows any issues with that first.

With that said for the 168gr, would the 175 be even worse? Out of curiosity

How would you identify this without taking a chance with the rifle?

    New rifle/scope, need mount help

Powdahound76, I Im’d about the rings and donation. I will donate regardless. Still looking at some options. I like the arc rings one bolt scope mounting. Seem like it would be very easy to keep level while torquing down. 50-55in seems a little high.

    New rifle/scope, need mount help

Just bought a savage axis ii precision last week. Today my USO ts-20x 2.5-20x50 came in. Now I need some quality rings/mount to mate them together. I like the idea of a one piece mount in case I ever want/need pull the scope off so I dont have to relevel it. I’m not sure what height to order...

USO ts-25x vs athlon ares btr gen2

Putting together this 6.5 creedmoor I just bought. Will be using it for target/precision shooting, no competitions. I’m trying to keep my budget close to the $7-800 range. I know there have been other threads lately and I have read through them. I’m now looking at these two scopes. I’m looking...

    Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10 turret accuracy

Glad to hear a great report of it. I’m sure with increased number of ppl buying and using them we will get more feed back. Sounds like I need to give it a try also.

    Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10 turret accuracy

I’ve held off on buying a scope for a while because .224 valk uppers disappeared. I’ve started seeing them available again. I am revisiting the lpvo scope options. For my budget of roughly $500 I’m leaning heavily toward the swampfox arrowhead 1-10x with the mil reticle with the .1 mil...

    Replacing a barrel on a rem 700

We have elk hunts here and I’m tryin to keep a rifle build close to 1k-1200. White tail would be more frequent. I figure a decent scope will run me $700+ plus rings. I’ve narrowed it down to the magpul hunter stock.

    Replacing a barrel on a rem 700

I’m only ever gonna have the ability to have one long range setup. I can’t justify another purchase or afford to outfit and reload another. Possibly later in life I can snag something else but in the mean time I’m tryin to choose a caliber that can do it all. Hunting medium game is a must...

    Replacing a barrel on a rem 700

So below 1k even for higher end? What smith would we recommended to ship whole gun out to and get back ready to go? What barrel life would a new custom barrel be like compared to factory? Thx for all the replies. A lot of great info
