    Cut and Thread a 17HMR

    You can go 16 but you might get more velocity spread from less burn time. I cut my savage to 18 and it's been more accurate than the stock length. I think it was Chuck Hawks website where he did a test with the hmr and a 24" barrel shoot,record cut 1" crown repeat all the way down to 12" iirc...

    .17HMR or .22 mag?

    I love my .17. It shoots flat and accurate. It is a lot quieter than my .223. A couple weeks back I posted a lasered 301 yard ground squirrel kill and it made me extremely happy with my setup

    I think this bullet was just about out of gas. Probably had under 7 ftlbs as there was no exit. Lasered at 301 yds no pop just fell on his side.
