Gunsmithing rem 700 bolt tear down problems

I have the sinclare main spring removal tool. I have compressed and removed retaining pin, however rear cocking piece will not come out. It should just slide out right? I have even tried a little force with brass punch but no movement. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Gunsmithing do you remove rem 700 barrel before cerakote

Is barrel removal necessary before cerakote? Some say its easy with action wrench, others talk about machining off shit.

    Gunsmithing masking tape for cerakote

Re: masking tape for cerakote Thanks for the info guys. Kapton tape states that a silicon adhesive is used. I have read that silicon can prevent a good bond with paint. Shercon is the best deal. Nic's tape is too costly. I also found precut stencils at...

Gunsmithing Best source for 120 AO Media

Re: Best source for 120 AO Media I bought a pressure pot blaster from HF and it sucks! The AO blasted through the shut off valves in 10 minutes. I also bought a HF deadman and the neoprene stopper was installed backwards. I wasted a day figuring that one out. Installed the correct way, it...

    Gunsmithing preparing scopes for cerakote?

I have searched and could not find any info on optics prep. I am using C-series on scope only. Can I partly take down, mask, and blast or just 400grit paper? And how to desgrease if not acetone soak? Thanks for any help!

Gunsmithing how are cerakote logos applied like red creeks TOM

Red Creek does a great job on their Tomahawk. Does anyone know how logos such as are applied? Heat Tape, metal stencil, or something else? If it's heat tape, seems like that is a lot of cutting with an exacto.

Re: Paint removal from H-S Precision stock Acetone takes off klylon and does not seem to affect my polymer. Rubbing alchohol might also work.

Gunsmithing is cerakote (satin) more durable than matte?

Re: is cerakote (satin) more durable than matte? Red Creek, thanks for that info. That makes perfect sense. I however did not describe my question very well. I was looking at it from the sense of surface texture. Does more texture allow an impact to "dig in" instead of "slide off". Mabye...

Gunsmithing is cerakote (satin) more durable than matte?

Does any one have experience with ratios other than matte. And if so, is satin or semi gloss more durable/scratch resistant than matte. Does any one know what factories use, such as LWRC or others?

    Gunsmithing cerakote over h series?

Re: cerakote over h series? I now realize that the only parts I am having trouble with are those that did not get blasted - the hard ano 3. recievers and rails. Acetone soak, and prebake is not enough for those parts. I blasted everything else with 120 AlO. And those parts look good. Would...

    Gunsmithing cerakote over h series?

I sprayed my ar15 with h seres. Dim light, too little volume on hvlp, and worry of runs lead to underspray at some places. At those spot light black can be seen. I did not blast ano before coating per nic's recomendation. I learned after first run the importance of the phrase "parts must be...
