Climb For Chris- Fallen MARSOC Hero

Two friends of mine are running a fundraiser in honor of Chris Goski. He was a Marsoc JTAC with 6 tours under his belt. He succumbed to extreme combat fatigue and PTSD last summer and took his own life. These guys are climbing Mount Rainier in his honor this June to raise money for the Silent...

    Bino question

Re: Bino question To each his own, bro. If you can read, than you saw that I wasn't trying to get involved in the telephone toughguy forum argument. I also asked a very clear question, which you failed to have the professionalism to answer, and I caveated my comment with "certain hunting...

    Rear bag - WEDGE?

Re: Rear bag - WEDGE? I agree that a $20 professionally made bag is much better than any of the monstrosities that I've made over the years. In a pinch though, if you need to make a rice sock or something, I've found that by filling in only about halfway than it produces a much sturdier rest.

    Suppressors Newbie Can Question

Re: Newbie Can Question And I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone with this, but nobody but you knows what things you are looking for in a suppressor, and I would never take buying advice from anyone who hasn't actually used the product they are recommending.

    Suppressors Newbie Can Question

Re: Newbie Can Question Get to a stocked Class III dealer and get your hands on some variety. Buying the "right" one is so subjective, please don't just take someone's word for a particular can and blindly throw your money at something.

Suppressors got some terrible news on my form 4

Re: got some terrible news on my form 4 I finding out more and more how common this actually is. Good luck with JAG. I'll venture to guess that they will be about as useful as the sheriff's department with this.

    Suppressors Suppressed Accuracy with/without pics

Re: Suppressed Accuracy with/without pics I've used a couple different models of AAC and KAC cans, and I have never had a change in accuracy. POI shift, yes.

    AR optic choices

Re: AR optic choices For 0-100 yards, I would use an EOTECH 10 times out of 10 and you can't go wrong. Best value for the money, and stupid durable.

FN SCAR? go or no go?

Re: FN SCAR? go or no go? I ran a MK17 on a deployment for 7 months. Its a nice, compact rifle in 7.62. Having said that, I would never buy one. Its cheaply made, and the weak points (the lock on the folding stock, the trigger mech) are definitely prone to failure. That's all good when...

AR vs Shottie for Home Defense

Re: AR vs Shottie for Home Defense I'm pretty sure my house is more likely to be robbed while I'm at work than when I'm actually there. As my only gun not in a safe is my bedside gun, its something inexpensive like a Glock, or a Mossberg. Even a cheap AR optic costs more that either one of...

    Dope card holder for wrist/forearm?

Re: Dope card holder for wrist/forearm? For an arm board I've used one from Mayflower for 3 years now and its still going strong. I know this wasn't your question, but what I've been using lately is a little Walmart ID card holder with the retractable lanyard. I think they're around a buck...

What cheek rest do you use?

Re: What cheek rest do you use? Its not pretty or sophisticated, but I've had success with layers of moleskin, or cardboard and tape. On all my precision AR's I put down soft velcro on either side of the stock (not putting any where my cheek weld is), and I velcro a piece of SAM splint on...

    Bino question

Re: Bino question I am by no means trying to get into any sort of argument, just trying to figure out what the fuss is about. Is the issue with using a riflescope for spotting because of the possibility of flagging someone? I think in certain hunting situations where you want to go light...

Tactical Gloves made in the USA?????????

Re: Tactical Gloves made in the USA????????? +1 for Mechanix. You can buy 4 pairs for the price of one pair of Oakleys, and they all feel the same anyway.

2 sets of foam for 1 pelican case?

Re: 2 sets of foam for 1 pelican case? I've done it before with different AR's. If you do it right you can probably make an all purpose channel to snugly fit either of those rifles in.

    Monopod vs. Rear bag

Re: Monopod vs. Rear bag In my experience a rear bag is more versatile. I've made a pretty solid shooting position by resting my front rail on a bag folded over on itself. Also, if you zip tie your bag to your sling than you always have it and it never gets left behind.
