Re: AI AW 308 in 20" or 26" barrel I have the 26 inch barrel. I'd say that you would give up about 50 fps if you cut it back six inches. I might put an Ops Inc 3rd on mine. It would be about the same length.

Re: Why Remington over Winchester? What aftermarket parts would you need? The triggers and recoil lugs don't need to be replaced and everything else is readily available... Most smiths like the Remington because the margins are higher. Not because it is superior.

Re: .338 LM AI? TRG? Custom build? Pro's/con's Davison will sell you on the AWSM, and he will be right. Most people get wrapped around the axle about stupid shit anyway. If you really want a custom rifle, get an AWSM and have GAP make a barrel for you.
