I stated with the Lyman T-mag about six years ago. The only things you will need to buy that doesn't come with the kit is a trickler and dies. Has a six position turret so you can two or three calibers without having to remove dies. And it has arguably the best reloading manual available...
I found a 4-14x42 with an illuminated MP8 reticle mounted on a Savage 10Fcp about a month ago. Paid 1200 for the set up and I am glad I grabbed it. The only thing I don't like about it is the side focus has very little adjustment between 0-500.
Simple concept really... Accuracy doesn't come from velocity. It comes from repeatability and a shorter barrel is more rigid allowing for more consistency. Sent from my SGH-T769 using Tapatalk 2
Bain and Davis. I just had an action barreled by them and it shoots great. Eric is great to work with! I do not recommend Bolsa. Bain and Davis Gun Shop - Gun Shop
I used some Rustoleum rubber seal for texturing, haven't had a chance to see how it stands up to some abuse but it does set up pretty hard while also giving a bit a grip. First time I did any stock modifications. Time to see how it stands up after a few trips to the range.
The problem you maybe having with the bolt closing I also had when I started reloading a few years ago. Most dies are set up so that you have to make you press "cam over" when using your FL die. What I had to do was raise the ram, run your die down until it touches. Then lower you ram then turn...
45.8grains is my sweet spot. Don't know what the velocities are but I keep it around .75" group at two hundred shooting 142SMK These are from the Spartan Precision Rifle facebook page. Hope this helps...
By a reloading kit that comes with a reloading manual and read it, it will answer ninety percent of the questions that you have plus give recommended charge weights to start with. Lee has good inexpensive kits. I started with a Lyman kit. Hornady and RCBS are also good.
ocw vs ladder test is up to....I think OCW is easier. but you need to figure out a plan and go form there the reloading process is one thing but if you not putting the right amount of powder in then its all for nothing. OCW Overview - Dan Newberry's OCW Load Development System
not that they are exactly the same but I have been using H4831sc and couldn't be happier. Not sure about the velocity but well under and inch at 200 running 142SMK with 45gr charge .020 of the lands.
