just bought a savage MKII FV-SR

Re: just bought a savage MKII FV-SR I dropped mine into a Boyds Tacticool stock, thats about it. It has been a tack driver from the 1st round. I love the sound of the suppressed fire...just the 'tink' of the firing pin.

    budget AR build barrel question

Re: budget AR build barrel question I've done a few builds with Rainier Arms barrels...I have been very happy with them. Rumor has it they are White Oak blanks turned down to Rainier contours.

    Larue, LMT & LWRC...

Re: Larue, LMT & LWRC... Got my Larue 18" and installed all the accessories I had waiting for it...range trip and report this Saturday. As for the weight, it is 15.5lbs as it sits in the pic below (still lighter than my 308 bolt gun).

    Larue OBR 18"

Re: Larue OBR 18" My 18" OBR is scheduled to arrive in two days, Sept 18. I ordered it 6/14, so just about 12 weeks wait time. I have a Vortex Razor HD waiting to go on top, along with my AAC 762SD. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning...I took the day off from work just so I...

Re: Larue, LMT & LWRC... I get my LaRue 18" in two days...I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. I actually took the day off work just so I can mount my Vortex Razor HD, AAC suppressor adapter, and spend the day at the range.

    Suppressors AAC Element II

Re: AAC Element II I have a Gemtech Outback II, a Silencerco Sparrow, and an Element. All great cans, but if I had to choose one, I would go with the Sparrow. To me, 1-4 db's attenuation difference in 'tests' is meaningless, so it comes down to the maintainability of the can. Gemtech...

Thinking about my first Bolt Action rifle.

Re: Thinking about my first Bolt Action rifle. I owned an AAC edition 700. It was a great gun. I did replace the stock with an HS Precision, install a Timney trigger and a larger bolt knob. If you were to get an AI stock, that would solve your detachable mag problem. For right around...

Movie Theater No Easy Day (book)

Re: No Easy Day (book) I am about 1/2 way through the book...it is an amazing read. I have yet to see anything that could endanger future OPSEC, but he does a fair amount of Obama bashing. Not that I disagree with anything that is said, but he does bash the 'civilian leadership'...

Rifle Scopes eo tech, AA or CR123

Re: eo tech, AA or CR123 I would go with the C123 models...the batteries have a much greater shelf life compared to AA Alkaline. You could always just use lithium AA batteries, though. I can't see the weight being more than 2-3 oz difference between the two models. I used to run an EoTech...

    300BLK AAC handi rifle

Re: 300BLK AAC handi rifle Picked up my AAC Handi Rifle today and got a little range time. First impressions are that it is tiny...much smaller than I remember when I fondled it at SHOT in January. Considering that its overall length is less than 32" including my Blackout flash hider, and...

    300BLK AAC handi rifle

Re: 300BLK AAC handi rifle I own several other Handi rifles, and they all shoot 1 moa. While I agree that 1 moa with a red dot is difficult, I will be testing from a ransom rest, so it can happen. Now, what I can shoot off-hand is quite another story. I plan on zeroing the red dot @100M...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Anyone interested in an M&P Shield review?

Re: Anyone interested in an M&P Shield review? Having owned both the 9mm Shield and 9mm PPS, my vote is for the Shield. I do like the trigger better on the PPS, but now that I installed the Duty Carry trigger from Apex into the Shield, it feels great with a more positive reset. I am...

    300BLK AAC handi rifle

Re: 300BLK AAC handi rifle I will be getting mine tomorrow, 9/5. I plan on using an Aimpoint T1 and my 762SD. I am not too concerned about accuracy, all I require (for this gun) is 1 MOA. As far as the trigger goes, it will undoubtedly take a trip to the gunsmith. I do know that...

    Best .308 match ammo

Re: Best .308 match ammo I have always had good luck with FGMM and Hornady. But, whenever I have a new rifle, I always try 3-4 different ammo makers, just to see if the gun likes one more than the others. I had a Savage 10FP that would do no better than 1.5 MOA with FGMM, but it loved the...

Magpul= Art of the Precision Rifle

Re: Magpul= Art of the Precision Rifle If you are brand new to precision shooting, there will be many, many times when you will say, "huh?". The video assumes you already know some basic-intermediate stuff. I found myself taking notes while pausing and rewinding. Overall, it is a great video.

School me on the AK platform!

Re: School me on the AK platform! If you want a high-end, custom built AK, Rifle Dynamics out of Vegas is the way to go. Also built on Arsenal kits. My Arsenal SLR-107F is a great machine, and accurate. People always say AKs are not accurate, but they are more the sufficient for a battle...
