The scope rail isn't terribly complicated. I could do a fairly faithful repop after I get my new Robodrill up and running. I'd need to check on the Patent expiration depending on how 'Authentic' you want to be. Either way, it won't be cheap. You're looking at 35 minutes to an hour of machine...
Sorry Sean, I'm not being as much help as I'd like to be. *White, Thank you. Another example of what I had no idea of. That being,,, Brownells has a "exportable" section. Now all I have to do is pray that one day they'll have an Armalite style barrel extension. The only AR-10 one that is listed...
The only advantage is that of the shorter powder column will lower the spread of your shot-shot velocity. This is the same concept as the 30-06 vs 308. All factors being equal the 30-06 will have a spread of 50-70 fps where the shorter 308 will spread 30-50 fps. That's with a full benchrest...
I did both... You try loading a 110 Gr. halfjackets into the lands of a chamber cut for 190Gr slugs. LOL In the end you'll get better results with a slight .002 (give or take) jump.
Since you're running a boltgun, you can push things a bit harder if you're getting better groups. According to the latest Hornady cookbook: 150gr. bullets: Accurate 2495 - 42Gr. H4895 - 42 Gr. IMR 8208 - 43 Gr. Accurate 2460 - 43 GR. IMR 4895 - 44 Gr. Varget - 42 Gr. IMR 4064 - 43 Gr...
So you want a .473 boltface, Short action, detachable magazine, and you want to play musical barrels? Savage model 14, 308 = $500 or less on sale. Replace: Bolt handle w/ factory fat knob (Bigger knob = more accurate) Suggest cement block or boat anchor. Factory wood stock w/ Tactical stock...
As stated previously: It fills a niche between the factory rubber bands and the top end mil spec stocks. For people who are still learning what works for them, it allows people to try out a verticle pistolgrip and see how they like it. The one problem I can see is a lack of horizontal...
Menards - "Tool Shop" and "Master craft" are the easiest - just ask the highschool kid in the "Ask me any question- I won't care" shirts if they have any scratched or empty cases laying in the backroom.
Running a basic mill and lathe is actually pretty easy. Getting all the tooling and assorted crap will run you as much, if not more than the lathe itself... If you want to work on rifles the first thing you'll want to do is look at Youtube and watch the videos from the home shop machinists...
I went with Graco pieces for my cheek and butt. Fairly easy to install with my dremel. Once I get my shop setup i'll be using a mill. The reason I went with the Graco butt is that it screws in on a threaded pipe. It won't walk on long shotstrings. The cheek I just screwed into the upper after...
Craft stores sells self adhesive Frisket that's easy to cut and sticks to curves fairly well. Grafix Matte All-Purpose Frisket Roll | Shop Hobby Lobby I used it for doing the stencils on my bike, The tank had recessed sides that normal paper wouldn't conform to.
Hobby Lobby carries "Frisket" which is a self adhesive thick film plastic that you can transfer the original pattern onto with a razor so you save the original pattern. Wrap the frisket around the contours of your rifle, paint, peel off and throw away. Save or sell original stencils.
90 percent of a rifles "Mechanical" accuracy comes from the chamber and the last 4" of the barrel. Now if you're asking if the stiller is worth the money? Yes. Will it make the rifle more accurate? Not unless you measure your groups with a dial caliper. The stiller simplifies scope mounting and...
The 308 isn't out yet so I'll assume your shooting the 223? The action rests in a plastic insert in the laminated stock. It's a safe bet that the insert needs to be bedded before things tighten up properly.
With a barrel that thick it's going to be a boat anchor anyway so there's no need for a brake. As for the chamber, the Wylde chamber was a compromise between the tight Saami spec 223 chamber and the fat/deep 5.56 chamber. Just go with 223 AI.
Sorry for my idiocy, I missed the part in your profile where it says you live in Canada. Canadian law might be an issue with semi-auto rifles but you might get lucky with Brownells. Available Outside USA Barrel Extension Parts | Rifle Barrel Hardware at Brownells
No disrespect intended, but Remington quality has slipped since they were bought out. It's entirely possible that you got a bad barrel. The fact that your shooting match ammo doesn't mean much if your rifle hates it. My 308 will drill holes all day long with 190gr anything. Drop to 150-170 gr...
I've looked at the Xbolt and yeah, you're screwed. Seriously, unless this is a 1/2 MOA rifle, don't chop it. Start with a Savage or a Remington and save yourself the headaches...
The 260 and 6.5 Creedmoor are the same thing. They push a 120 grain 6.5 bullet at 2750 fps. The difference is that the longer, thinner bullet stabilizes better and drills deeper than a fatter bullet. Range wise, past 400 yards a 6.5 will fly farther with less drift due to the higher BC. For...
