I'm guessing they are what, 200-300 dollars? I hope they are under 500, but either way, I'll spend the money. I never cheap out on things that put food on the table or my ass on the line. Now I just have to wait till the rifle is finished, shoot the 10 rounds, check all of them to see if they...
Im currently building a 7 Rem Mag and finally have my machinist taking care of business after a long wait for everything to come in- #8 Shilen barrel, AICS 2.0 LH stock, Rem 700 LH action (i shoot right, but started loading left after hanging around too many BR shooters- its actually great!)...
I'll track down Bill Wiseman and pay the price. Although, being here in Aggieland sure helps- also, just a shout out- Barry at Burdetts does good machine work. He may not know everything about trick reamers/bullet combinations, but still a good guy.
Let me start with a story. Plenty of times I have taken my AR-10 out to 400-500 yards and with handloads, the gun performs just fine. Won't shoot bugholes, but will keep fist sized groups and definitely save your life if it ever needed to do so. Finally, I got to really "stretch" her out...
Found this- Wyatt's Outdoors Trigger Guard Detachable Mag Assembly Remington 700 Which could be used with a McMillan stock I would think.... that would cure my itch. I would really like a 10 round capacity. More is great, but not needed. Less is bad, and a problem.
Currently piecing together all the stuff to finalize my 7mm Rem Mag build and still needing a chassis. Was originally going to use the TAC21 chassis until I called on friday and was told they had NO magazine that worked with the 7RM. Great. Here's my problem. I prefer a left handed bolt...
Alrighty. Gonna just give PTG a call monday if I don't hear back via email. Also shot an email to JGS so Ill just play the "who's on first" game and see who responds faster. Definitely want a carbide reamer as my experience with HSS is... subpar... then again, I mess with inconel, titanium and...
Looking for recommendations on purchasing a custom reamer for my barrel blank. Would like to send in a "dummy" 7 Rem Mag with the 162 AMAX loaded at magazine length (with clearance built in for the length) and discuss throat lead in angle, throat tightness ect. Was considering Clymers- anyone...
So pretty much better off just buying a standard AR-15 lower and .458 upper. I think either way, 2000 dollars is gonna get spent. Just really liked the idea of using the AR-10 platform rather than the 15. Damn things feel like toy guns to me.
Does anyone know if you could purchase a Armalite AR-10 Upper and re-barrel for the .458 socom? The rim diameter on the 458 is the same as the .308, so I assume the bolt carrier would be the same as the standard AR-10 right? Im trying to figure out the best way to build a socom upper for...
Great results with H4895 and 8208 XBR, but found that with the 8208 I would need to turn the gas block down as it would over-gas the rifle (even with a heavy tungsten X3 buffer). I usually just use 42.2g of 4895 with bullets at 2.840 OAL- shoots 1/2 MOA. On the 8208, I could never find a happy...
I have a 1'x1' square plank attached to the side of my gun bench that the tumbler sits on without complaint. Mounted a plastic shield between it and the bracket incase it ever does leak and im not around to catch it fast enough. Usually leave it tumbling for 2-4 hours depending on the amount of...
Also, if your bullet isn't on this list, your shit out of luck for 2014. Damn shame as Im building my 7RM around the 162g AMAX. Gonna just go ahead and switch back to Sierra. At least I know I can get those...
Direct from Hornady's website: Hornady Makes Plans to Increase Production Volume For over half a year, Hornady Manufacturing, along with the rest of the shooting sports industry, has experienced an unbelievable spike in demand. This dramatic increase in demand is unprecedented. As stated...
Take a look at this chamber print (first is SAAMI, second is a custom chamber someone had made) and why would the lead in angle be better? 7mm Remington Magnum Chamber Print | PrecisionRifleBlog.com I think im gonna have my builder just put my stuff on hold until I can get about 100 pieces of...
SAAMI spec is .317 at the "front" next to the shoulder and .316 at the end of the brass for the 7 rem mag chamber- I was thinking a .315 reamer would be a good compromise for still being able to chamber factory stuff but still chambering neck turned brass without having the necks expand too...
