@buffalowinter i had every intention of buying your M249 replica if I had won the powerball. Keep the builds coming gents. This stuff is awesome. This forum needs a sub of just gunsmithing.
This is so insanely cool and inspiring. Here i am working up the skills to thread a rolling block barrel (dont ask, or do!!) And you and @buffalowinter building cool shit from 2 pages of a ditant history book. Id pay to watch you guys do a build off. Like top chef, but with guns (i should...
Contacted Eric at Mountain Shadow Arms, in Spokane. He was shocked the original threads left his shop. He asked for 5 days to make it right. Id say he did a great job with excellent customer service. i offered to pay him partially for the quick repair and he turned it down. See how it shoots...
Huh, well fool me once! Glad it was all ok with the sandman. I dont have pictures of it after threading, but i do remember thinking the shoulder seemed off. Forgot i have this Bartlein thats waiting to replace my 6.5 cm barrel that @LongRifles Inc. did. Ill be sending you a barrel next week...
Wilson Combat barrel in 308 win. Had threaded by a local shop in anticipation of suppressors. Had a Dead Air Key micro brake with a touch of Rocksett for the Sandman S while I waited for the Nomad Ti. The sandman s set up shot great. Boiled the MB to release the Rocksett. Brake came off easy...
1/4 6061 aluminum from ebay, a few cheapo amazon ball mounts, 1 "expensive" Amazon arca ball mount, and a free afternoon. Simple project for a hobbyist with a drill press, taps/ dies, and HF 4x6 horizontal band saw.
Not these 6.5, but the batch of308 from my AR 10 had some sticking. So i stopped until i can figure that out. Assumed its from the ejector marks. There is a little burr.
First time using an EP integrations annealer. This 6.5 CM brass has close to 10 firings on it (140gr burger, h4350, @~2700fps). In the past I would send batches to a memeber on here that would anneal for us. Probably every 2-3 firings. Setup: propane torch tip was set back from brass so there...
Trying to find an ocatagonal barrel blank or "original" for a 22 long #4 rolling block. I also am looking for front and rear sights for one. My google search is finding lots of out of stock, gunbroker is not showing much either. Any other spots that I cant try?
I tried a search on the forum and Google for a solution without luck. I also reset my settings in the app, and restarted my phone. When using the Android app, when I open a forum it jumps to the bottom of the thread. These can be new, unviewed threads or stuff I know I have looked through...
Interesting. The Nosler and Speer manuals both also claim a max of 47gr. My rifle has a bull Wilson Combat barrel on it. I did have 1 blown primmer last time I took it out, and when de-primming, the pockets felt a little loose. Guess Ill pull these rounds and work it back up. I looked over my...
You maybe right. I looked on Hodgdons reload site, and for service rifles they recomend a max of 44gr!! I do not think that my manuals specify service rifle vs bolt gun, so I think I just worked up to a good group with the max load being 47gr. That is kind of a bummer, as I just loaded up...
I went with the CAR-10 buffer and spring. I only have the 7" buffer tube, and would like to not sink a bunch more into this rifle other than upgrading glass.
I ended up ordering the heavy buffer and spring combo above. I will update once installed. I will also test the gas block in the extremes of each position, because i dont recall how many clicks i attempted. The Superlative arms block has a lot more adjustments than i expected.
