So I started this thread awhile ago and figure I should update a bit. I pulled the bipod off and now shoot strictly with bags. I’ve stopped forcing my shoulder into the rifle and all is going great. I can now stay on target and watch impacts. I cannot shoot prone as I have a bone defect in my...
It is possible and I did screw down a 1x2 fitting strip last night. Getting behind the gun I am now able to really drive the gun into the pod legs. It should make a world of difference. My shooting bags are supposed to be in today and so I’ll be trying that as well. Thank you guys for the great...
If we are shooting in the dirt then yes I load the pod. Which interesting enough I don’t have the issue. We shoot off of benches most time. Not sure how to load a pod on a smooth bench.
Real silly academic question here. I’ve been shooting since I could basically walk. I have a core group of friends that I do some lr shooting with and this last weekend we all noticed that our rifles seem to recoil significantly more than what we see most of the time when we watch elr or lrp...
If anyone is interested in an update, since installing the Wolff spring in the R700 4 months ago, it has had 1 lp strike. My customer is very happy about this. Thanks again guys.
I own 3 Howa rifles and love them. I am wanting to pick up their mini action chassis in .223 but the barrel only comes in 20” length. The twist is 1:8. What do you think practical range will be with that barrel?
Not sure what brass you’re using but with Hornady brass and 140 eld-m’s I’m at 2850 with 41.9 grains at sea level. 44 GR of anything in the 6.5 cm is a ton.
I know, rookie question but I’ve never shot a rifle as much as I am the Howa and I’m wondering about other than the obvious groups opening up, what signs are there? I have a 26” factory barrel with 700 rounds through it on 6.5cm shooting 2850fps.
I’m surprised to see that kind of velocity with RL-17. I was never able to get good results with 17. I switched to RL-16 and have never looked back. I live on the coast range and have huge temperature and humidity sweeps on any given day and I think that was the problem with the 17.
My buddy is wanting to put either a chassis or a gripped style stock on his short action Remy. He has a budget of $500. Anyone have good recommendations or cautions?
Another RL16 convert from H4350. I’m getting much more consistency and many more cold bore 1st shot impacts. I’m using 40.8gr with 140 eld match at 2.80 oal.
