I bought one of those battery powered air mattress pumps at wally world, hooked a clear hose to it. I made a plastic cone shaped reducer for the end of the hose that will fit in my barrel.. I just stick it in the end of my barrel while I am going to check my target.. It blows a surprisingly...
I use a piece of 308 brass as a trickler...I can get out 1 at a time with it fairly consistently... Fill it up about 3/4 of the way with powder and roll the brass between your thumb and index finger. After a bit of practice, it becomes very easy and accurate... Hoodlum
One of the most valuable things a person needs to learn is cutter sharpening/shaping... Carbide inserts are great, but are expensive, and the time will come when they don't make a cutter in the shape you need one... Get some high speed steel square cutter stock and learn to make your own...
The eye relief on my vortex, as well as all other scopes I have ever owned changes with increased magnification. The image also becomes somewhat distorted, and the eye position as far as being aligned with the scope, also becomes more sensitive. As far as being blurry, I haven't really had that...
I ordered one from Dark eagle 2 weeks ago... He was out then but I put my name on his list... Within 4 days, the mag had shipped and was in my mailbox within 7 days of ordering... Great mag and well worth the cost and the short wait.... Hoodlum
Nothing wrong with those primers... There is still a very pronounced round edge on them.... As long as the bolt wasn't sticky, I would say load em up!!!! Hoodlum
I need to study up on G1 and G7... Just for grins, I changed my BC on the shooter app to G7 and the mill adjustment for 1000 went from 10.3 mills to 7.9 mills without changing anything else... Not following how that's supposed to work.... Hoodlum
I adjusted the program per temps, elevation, etc. and it came to 2625fps..... I was basing the adjustments off of 1 hit, but I did find impacts in the dirt/mud shy of the target so I know the 10.3 mills was falling short....
Well, I finally gave it a try... Woke up this morning to a sunny day with calm winds, and enough previous dry days to allow the field to dry enough to ride the Polaris back and forth to the target..... Shooting a savage 10 fcp 308. 180gr smk's with 43.5gr varget and lake city brass... By the...
Not a poncho, but I bought a set of the GI gortex rain suits a while back, and love it.... It's in digital multicam.... It can be worn in warm temps without the sweating you get with other suits.... Excellent option unless you're stuck on a poncho...
The first one I made came up to the point where I typically anneal too, which was just below the shoulder/body junction... I held the case in the flame for approximately 30 seconds, and the neck never even began to glow, and the sink became pretty much too hot to hold... I am sure that...
For some of you guys with a lathe, this is a neat little gadget I made last night.... They are heat sinks to help keep the case heads cool during annealing... They work better than expected... I actually had to shorten them a bit because it was taking forever for the cases (especially the 308)...
I have a vortex viper pst 6-24x50 and was looking for caps. I went to a site that had butler creek size chart but nothing really matched the size of the scope. The closest I can find is a #40 and a #14. Just curious what you folks are using.
