Welcome, I am also from SE Michigan. As stated above your best bet would be to get a 308 or one of the 6.5 short action cartridges. I shoot out at Washtenaw, we have a practice every wed daylight savings to daylight savings time and two or three matches a month. Come on out bunch of good guys.- Cephalotus

Powder for .22-250
I have had good luck with Superformance pushing 69g smk and 77g Nosler comps. Do not have velocity data but poi with the 69s is eight inches higher at 600yds than my max load of 4350.- Cephalotus

22-250 Help
I load 77g Custom Comps with 4350 or Hodgdon Superformance, so not much help here. Western Powders shows data for 80g SMK hpbt with 4064 starting 29.2 and max 32.5 with coal 2.610. I can not seat at 2.610 my max is 2.50 so I back my starting loads off a little.- Cephalotus

why not 222 remington magnum
One of my favorite rifles is my Savage 12bvss castrated with a Shilen 1-8 fast twist 26" 22-250 barrel. Groups 77g CustomComps and 69gSMKs rather well at 600yds.- Cephalotus
