Crush choking a steel rod...? IMO... Be more successful meeting at the crossroads by the graveyard during the full moon and making a blood sacrifice of a horned lizard while chanting Calfee, Calfee, Calfee to the dark gods of rimfire accuracy. Of course I developed this theory by drinking Mogan...
IMO... Best bang for the buck. KRG Bravo as a chassis and Boyd's At-One for a more traditional style. Of course there are many good options and this is only my personal opinion. Edit to add... The Boyd's Pro Varmint or the factory Pro Varmint are very decent stocks...
Clean it off and you will lead up your barrel and bad things happen to your accuracy. Cheaper ammo has a different lube than "good" ammo and cheaper has more of a tendency to "gum up". There are a million secret formulas for special magical accuracy enhanced lubes and they are generally used on...

Bolt is hard to close without a round in the chamber? I would suggest you have someone else read the instructions and redo/check your math and see if you both arrive at the same figure for your shims.
Just got a flyer from MGW Midwest Gun Works - advertised CCI Standard for $1.99. and several other incredible buys on ammo. Of course it was sold out less than 45 seconds after I got the email. (seriously - within 45 seconds I tried to order) Scammer? I don't know but .......
Two pins on the bottom at the tenon with a press fit I believe. I little locktite would probably do it by itself with a good press-fit. Or there is always thread the barrel and receiver. I have an Anschutz take off barrel glued into my CZ 457 receiver and no cuts or pins and it works perfectly...
A friend has a restocked 541 with an Anschutz barrel on it ( changed for Silhouette shooting) and it "might" shoot a little better than the factory barrel but it is really a nice gun for it's new intended usage. I believe he has it for sale right now on Steel Chickens. A quality smith...
