    300 Norma Die Advice and Pro-tip

    They seem to size the base of the brass better. I had clickers with another brand of dies. Not with this die. It was new Lapua brass in a factory AXMC barrel, so the chamber may be a little on the large side of the spec? Either way, no issues now.

    Quickload alternatives?

    I haven’t found Quickload or GRT to predict 6 Creedmoor loads accurately. I used QL for years successfully for other rounds, not sure what the issue is with 6 Creed or my chamber. I found the Hornady data to be the closest.

    260 Vs. 6.5 Creedmore

    I find necking up from .243 is a little better than using .308. But, nowadays, cheap 6.5 creedmoor is less expensive than sourcing primers, bullets, and powder. AAC ammo is $1.25 ish per round delivered to my front door. It probably shoots better than I do.

    Barrel can also get carbon in throat, sometimes to the point of rings forming in the chamber that are hard to remove. Honestly, it could be a hundred different things…..

    Micron at Bullet Central is worth looking at. Whidden are also great. I have both. Whidden allows for custom neck tension. Micron sizes tighter at the base.

    Anyone shoot AAC 6.5cm ammo?

    I’ve shot a bunch of the Sabre and 140 SMK. Both shoot well in my bolt rifles. The SMK stuff shot .5 moa at 600 as measured by an electronic target through a Proof steel barrel.

    300 RUM build

    300 rum would have almost the same case capacity of a 30-338 Lapua. You could do the improved version for even more capacity. I’ve had great luck with the BAT M for this sort of single shot project. It will fit in a McMillan A5 style stock with magnum fill. I think there’s an xl version nowadays...

    I have a couple BAT M actions. Zero complaints. Jim Borden now makes a bigger action as well. I’ve had several Bordens, but haven’t seen the Lapua size.

    .338 Norma necked down to .300

    I’ve necked down 338 Lapua to 308. Anneal, lots of lube, neck down. Then, expand, neck turn, and trim to OAL. I used sizing wax to neck down, then mobil one engine oil for neck turning.

    CFE223 pressure signs?

    Could the oal for that bullet be a little long for the throat of that rifle? Did you paint with a sharpie and look for touching?
