Told this at the UPS hub

Shipping Firearms and Ammunition: UPS UPS rules state that if there's a pistol in the box, you're supposed to tell someone. Stop guessing and just read the regs.

    Speeding ticket question.

A radar detector - even a V1 - is a tool, only as good as the operator. Just like one of those universal remotes or a BFH, if you don't know how to work it, there's no point in having it. If speed limits were set by the recommendations of professional traffic engineers (at the 85th...

    Speeding ticket question.

I once went to court for speeding. The citation read the speed limit was 65 in that area, and my speed as claimed by the officer was 90. I was in a four cylinder Dodge Dakota. At court, the DA (or whatever professional position that lovely young lady occupied) spoke with me and with the...

    Help identify a WWII rifle?

I was in there earlier - excellent museum, with the small exception that the descriptions of the exhibits don't always match laterally with the exhibits. This is one of these - the rifle description is below and to the side of the rifle itself. Did you see the two MoH? And Jack Lucas's...

    Single Feed

Something to try may be a coin - either a dime or a nickel. I can't say specifically if it'll work in your application, but it's worked in other rifles I've tried.

frustrated, gunsmithing, reloading, OAL hunt in one week. Bolt gun.

I've seen a Remington 700 223 that had a similar block at the rear of the magwell. Comparing that box to a standard short action it looked like the block was the only difference. As long as your bolt travels back far enough to clear that spacer, you shouldn't have any problems.

Jewel trigger failures in the field?

I've had the same happen with a xmark trigger - bottom line was the trigger was dirty after several hundred rounds and operating in blowing wind environments. Now I know about that particular failure mode, and The trigger gets cleaned along with the remainder of the rifle. It's the shooter's...

    Chopping a bbl

Depends on the end quality desired. I cut a 10/22 barrel down using a cutoff wheel, cleaned it up with a file, and crowned it up with a countersink. It holds honest 1/2" 10 shot groups at 30 yards, and I'm okay with that. Would I take a cutoff wheel to a $350 bartlein blank? Nope. To cut down...

Maggie’s I'm having remorse - RESERVE MET on Gunbroker

At that price, and having never fired it, I'd let it go. It was obviously a collector piece when you picked it up...let someone else sit on it for a while. Unless you have a big emotional attachment to it (family heirloom or the like) I don't see why you should have your money tied up in a...

    Gunsmithing Let's talk Credit Cards

I might consider a 40% markup on auto parts at a garage... If it was 40%. I had my truck in an alignment shop a week back as was told that I need a new balljoint at a cost of $122. Funny thing is, the Moog part that they'e quoting me is $52 at the local parts shop. i understand how business...

What do you guys (Marines) think of this?

Absolutely no different than taking a career 0311 with 20+ years' experience picking up that 9999 MOS and dropping him in the first open victor unit with a spot - just happened to be VMA-223. The 'wingers were used to the 10 hour days, five to six days a week to maintain a 500+ flight hour...

I need a class because clearly I am doing it all wrong

See! It's what I've been saying for years! All you need is krylon and SNIPER ammo - everything else is just fluff! ------ I don't care what anybody else does - unless I'm on a two-way range, I'm not dropping a $100 mag to the deck after I get done yank-firing $10 worth of ammo.

    Gunsmithing Removing Kiwi shoe polish

The shoe polish is oil based, so anything that will dilute oil should work just fine. I'd start with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) before moving on to acetone (fingernail polish remover). Make sure to oil it back up before you reassemble, because you'll have a rust blob later if you...

Gunsmithing Anyone make a quality T10 torx bit?

I prefer Snap-On for the quality of their tools and in a business environment they're my first choice. At home, even though the quality is not the same, I'll go with Craftsman for two reasons - most times I can get two or three Craftsman widget turners for the price of the equivelant Snap-On...

lol... yall are going to enjoy this one

Truly a fair enough question, and phrased as a question in lieu of an accusation. First inlking was the price, since the GAP rifle runs close to $4k and does not include the glass, which runs around $3k when one comes available. I contacted the 'seller' and immediately the story wasn't making...

their mom is going to be pissed

First off, drifting is not a sport. Just had to get that out. But that's not drifting either - that's just yanking the park brake to full while in traffic and at speed. Doesn't matter where or who you are - that's just driving like an asshole. (Or whatever that particular part translates to...
