It always bothered me when I shot my rifle with the Steiner 5-25x56 that after focusing, I would have to fine tune the focus adjustment to eliminate parallax, and then the focus was slightly off. One day I had an epiphany. I realized that when I first...
Not sure what you're saying. I have installed Ernie the Gunsmith springs in several X-Mark Pro triggers, also set around 2.5 pounds. With minimal breakin they have a smooth pull with a crisp break. The pictured X-Mark (non-Pro) has no external adjustment and must be removed from the stock to...
I picked up a Remington 700 barreled action today and I thought it would have come with an X-Mark Pro trigger. Instead it came with this trigger. Is this a 40X trigger? I can't find any pictures online that positively identify it.
I have a Savage Mark II (22" bull barrel) and it favors the Norma TAC .22 LR ammo. Last outing with my wife she was shooting sub 3/4" 5 shot groups at 50 yards with it. CCI standard velocity and Federal bulk pack groups were at least twice the size. Hard to find much variety in .22 ammo these...
I owned an S&B PMII 5-25x56 and a Steiner Military 5-25x56. Of the 2, the S&B was the only one that required service when the erector went kaflooey, locking up the mag ring. Sorry to hear about your experience, but anything made by man can break.
Once I'm outfitted with decent equipment, the only thing that's going to make me a better shooter is more trigger time. I have the decent equipment. My local club is clearing lanes out to 800 yards, more trigger time. One definite advantage to the Vortex is their service. Yeah, yeah better yet...
Earlier this year I felt guilty about the amount of money I had invested in scopes, and I went on a cheap scope bender. I replaced a Zeiss Diavari FL, a Steiner Military 5-25x56, and the Razor with a Bushnell DMR on my .260, a Bushnell ET 6-25x50 FFP on my .308, and a Weaver Tactical 3-15x50...
I had a Razor 5-20 with the EBR-2B. The wind + elevation dots (Christmas tree) are not nearly as prominent as those in a Horus or G2DMR reticle, and they did not radically reduce my ability to see detail in the lower quadrants. Of course the amount of obfuscation will vary from user to user...
I'd recommend the ET6245FG (G2DMR reticle FFP) over the F (illuminated FFP mildot). The G2DMR reticle is far more useful than the illumination for most. Liberty has the FG for just under $800 shipped. You have to add it to the cart to see the price. Specials, Demos, Trades
I've used several EGW aluminum rails. I'm sure they're not good enough for some Hiders, but they were straight and machined like a good alloy when I opened up the holes for #8 screws. This tool & die maker would use them again. 2 weeks ago I installed a NightForce steel rail on a friend's R700...
Hoppes, a toothbrush, and some elbow grease should do it. I'd be hesitant to use any kind of polish or even 0000 steel wool, once may not abrade much, but you'll probably have to do it again.
If you can find a DMR w/G2DMR for $900, jump on it. You can buy the ET 6-24x50 w/G2 at libertyoptics right now for $800 shipped. Also a great scope. Specials, Demos, Trades
It's only good for a year or 2 depending on what time of year you buy the scope, though. After that it reverts to their standard lifetime warranty which seems to run about 5 weeks turnaround. That's a longer wait then some, shorter than others. I don't find it unreasonable.
