    The are soft, undersized (they are often loose in the primer pocket) and they are inconsistent, in my experience. If I had a choice of any primer at a store, Winchesters are the last I would choose. Was that "helpful" enough for your standards?

    Start annealing and making sure neck tension is consistent. Weighing and sorting cases and bullets helps a bit, too. It's my opinion that it's rarely powder charge or quality of primers. Those things are USUALLY up to par.

    Depends what you want to do with it. For hunting, I would go with a 50/200 zero. From 0-250 yards, you will never be more than a few inches high or low. If you want to make it a target shooter, then zero at 100. JMO.

    Calculating bullet drop is easy. Try it on a windy day. And to be honest, if your first shot was a hit, but your second two weren't, then that is kinda proof that it WAS a fluke. Sorry. Just sayin'. Repeatability determines if something was luck or not, and you were NOT able to repeat it.

    My pet load is the same for 175 SMK and 178 Amax: 42.2 grains of IMR 4064. I would imagine the Berger would be close or identical. If your best load is 42.0 grains, maybe try 41.8, 42.0 and 42.2 and see which is best. Whichever comes out on top, play with seating depth.
