I have a MPA 6.5 creed on the way.
The description says "
  • Throated for Hornady 140gr ELD (also ideal for handloads)
Does that mean the angle of the lead is special or just that it's freebore is short or what?

Would it be less than optimal for the Long butted 130 hybrids?

LRI spun me up a KP barrel chambered in 6.5CM, specifically the 140 AMAX. Then that bullet disappears from existence and I thought I was toast.

However, the 140 ELD-M's have given me great results and, more to your point, so have the Berger 130g Hybrids. I used them in the FGMM factory ammo when I was unable to reload and they grouped very nicely. SD's between lots were less than desirable but I attribute that to the FGMM loadings, not the bullet itself.

I say give it a try, if you wish.

I asked Phil Cashin of MPA a similar question. I was told via email,
On the handloading, you can use whichever .264 diameter bullet you would like. The throat is set for the seating depth on the Hornady 140 ELD factory loaded ammo. I believe the # is around 2.205" on the base to ogive on the hornady rounds (on average) and our throat is 2.225ish. This would provide about ,020" of jump on that round. So just find the throat depth with an OAL gage using a modified case and the type of bullet you will be loading. The set your jump amount based on your preferences.

I have the same rifle. I run the 130 hybrid with better results than the eldm. I have launched 1000s of ELDM'S but the 130 hyb is better for me. You will wind up some 10 to 20 thou off the lands. Heres 3 shots.

WOW....WOW....
Ok spit out the details.
Brass
Powder
Grains
Barrel length
Velocity
I don't mind shamelessly copying ?

Let me start by saying I had a horrible cold bore shot with this rifle, I mean bad. 2 to 3 inches low every time. If it sat more than 5 mins. Repeat of cold bore. Last saturday I tore gun completely down and dremmeled the feed ramp and reassembled. Those 3 are the first 3 I fired. Cold bore issue solved, dont ask me what the cause was. It was 18 degrees.
Lapua brass 42.1 h4350 fed 205m at 10 thou off makes 2885 fps sd 4 es 9. I tried the mag primers everyone uses but they weren't working.
MY GUN, MY AMMO YMMV.

The Shop gave me a choice of chassis color but they didn't seat the lug right when they made the swap. I'm willing to bet yours had a similar action/chassis problem.

All I know is something was not right, it is now. Love the rifle but not sure about the lug. Going to remove it and test tomm. I can see where it may cause more issue's than it can solve. Cant imagine a creedmoor needing more than just action screws.

Any more work done here? I'm trying to find a powder node in this range.

I had better results with the Berger 130 with

H4350- 42.6gr
Hornady brass
Fgmm 210 primer
130 ar hybrid

I was shooting the 140 eld with 1/2” groups and then switched
