I bought some new 155gr. Scenars for my .308 savage 10. I have tons of H4895 powder that I use in my current load. Does anyone have a starting load for the 155gr scenars with H4895 powder?

My current load for whatever its worth.

168gr. SMK bullets
42.5gr H4895 powder
C.O.A.L.= 2.800
CCI BR-2 Primers
Hornady brass trimmed to 2.005

Basically I just need a starting point and some data about where the "max load" for this combination would be. Thanks

Re: 155gr Scenars and H4895?

I use 155 Palmas over 47 gr of H4895. Slightly different shape, but basically the same ballistics as the scenar. Have to jump them 0.1" to fit in the mag. Gives me 2880 fps with no signs of pressure. Excellent accuracy with the big jump. Start a bit lower than that though.

What are your cartridge over all lengths with this load? Thanks for all the help. I cant wait to try these new bullets out. Actually I hope they dont shoot too good because then I will have to start buying the more expensive scenars instead of the sierra bullets!
