16-18 inch shorty rifles

What scope base is that, and what height are your rings?
They are Vortex Precision Rings 35mm x 1.26" height on this setup, 20MOA rail. Seekins have the exact same rings just FYI. Think I have 4 Leupold MK5 all are setting in Vortex or Seekins rings in different heights depending on the rifle.

Thinking of trying a new bullet, need something more consistant than rdf's. Looking at 123 eldm and 147 eldm. What do you guys think for a 18" 6.5cm Bartlein suppressed? Also what powder? Been running h4350 but man its getting expensive. Will staball6.5 work in shorter barrels with either of these 2 bullets?

New Video is up! Ruger American Ranch .300 BLK with the Otter Creek Labs Hydrogen-S and Berger 210 VLD subsonic handloads at 200 yards.

One more stupid question and I’ll leave you alone.
That’s a 16” or 18” barrel? I read that the forend is too long to clear a 16” barrel on an AX chassis?

No prob, it's 16.5" to the end of the threads then the break, barrel clears the forend by about 1.5". Keep in mind this is the old AX Chassis 13" forend on short action. I dunno what the new one is.

Where’s the drool emoji 🤤🤤🤤

When you gonna start slinging subs in that thing at night!?
When I decide to order some Hornady Sub-X factory ammo just to get me started. Once I stash some brass I’ll start rolling my own and dial in a good load. Might have to record some videos of some “long range” lead lobbing with subs 😄 was supposed to take this hog hunting until I got sick and missed it…

Won't be suppressed. Just wonder how much recoil will be reduced with a brake.
If you can shoot a 30-06 without a brake you will be fine. I only shot a couple rounds without a can and they weren’t anything excessive.

Just bought a 16” Christensen Arms MPR .308 Win tonight. It’s setup in a temporary optics configuration until my new Kahles K624i RSW CCW SKMR4 Scope shows up to go on top.

Currently put my spare new PA SLx 1-10x28 ACSS Griffin M10S on it, in a set of 34mm Seekins rings.

The twins…

A pair of 16" Christensen Arms MPR's with matching Kahles K624i CCW RSW SKMR4 scopes. I'm fixing to have to swap the rings to some taller ARC M-BRACE 1.26" rings to be able to clear the hand guards with the 20MOA bases and sunshades and Kahles flip caps. They won't fit with 1.00" rings, but the 56mm scope by itself will just barely clear it by a few millimeters.

So, take my advise after spending $700 fucking dollars on rings to figure out what fits... if you're wondering about ring height with the MPR and 56mm scopes... Go ahead and get 1.25" or taller.

I love shorty builds. In NH distances usually run from 600 yards to 1100 if you are lucky. But 600-800 is the norm.

The 3 builds I have had are:

R700 6.5CM
-16" XCalibur Remage barrel
-Magpul Pro700 folder for easy transport
-140gr ELDs at 2600fps with H4350, shot 1/2 MOA all day suppressed
-Handy and fun for NVD use (wish I had a better pic)

Surgeon 308Win
-18" Bartlein chamber by Bugholes
-Had a McMillan A5 but dropped into a Pro700 for similar reasons
-175gr Noslers at 2574fps with Varget, shot 1/4 MOA if I did my part
-Fun with subsonics at about 1MOA

Stiller Tac30
-18" Mullerworks barrel done by Bugholes
-Manners EH2 but only because the TF3A is having an EFR added into it
-Shoots 1/2MOA or better, closer to 1/3 MOA if I am on my game
-80gr ELDM at 2803fps with Varget, may switch to StaBall Match for some more juice

Got the cut/threaded barrel and fluted bolt back from the smith, so my 18" suppressed 300 WSM is starting to come together, complete with crappy rattle can camo job. Using an MT long action bolt stop, and Tikka factory 6.5 PRC specific mags, I'm able to load out to ~3" and cycle fine. The rifle is going to get an MT cheek riser, Helos 2-12 BTR 2, and my Nomad TI, estimated full up weight is just under 9 lbs, we'll see.

Finally, something worth being shown here !

ARC Archimedes
PVA 6br 18" 1-7
TriggerTech diamond
March FX 1.5-15X42 FML-4
ARC M-Brace
Grayboe Phoenix

I will change the trigger for a Special. The Diamond is too light for this rifle.

11.1 lbs without mag, 11.7 lbs with 12 rounds mag.

I’m interested in what bullets you will be shooting and what speed you achieve.

I'm shooting 105 Scenar-L at 2600 fps with N150. Not the best powder for this barrel length but I still have ammo loaded when the barrel was 26".

As soon as this batch is finished, I'm switching to 109 Berger and Varget or N540. I'm hoping for 2650 fps with N540. We'll see.

My next build will be a CDG, either a 18.5 or a 16in 6.5 creed in a folding stock chassis.
Haven’t decided the chassis yet but most likely a Cadex Strike Pro or a folding AT-X. I need a precut arca, vertical grip, folding stock, thumb rest, AW compatible and nvg bridge.
