I don't know if I'd call it a shorty but I love it ! 🤩👍

It's 8lbs, scoped, suppressed and bipod?

8lbs even scoped and suppressed, but without bipod. It is a Spartan bipod with quick attach/detach, so I don't carry with the bipod attached.

Here are some pictures and information on the chassis, if you want any particular angles or views let me know.

Are you interested in selling this Mirage Chassis?

For all of you dedicated shorty shooters, here's a hypothetical:

If you were gonna build one (16-18 inches) with the only design constraint being you need to throw a bullet with a G1 of at least .6 w/ a MV >2750 FPS, what cartridge are you running (and why)?

I would look at something like a 7 SAUM with Berger 168 VLDs or 6.5 PRC with 140+ class bullets.

I just ordered an 18" .260 AI that I'm planning on shooting 123 Scenars with Varget. I'll be posting a pic once the barrel is on it. Any folks on this thread running 120-130 6.5s? What powders are you running?

I'll be posting a pic soon of my project for my son's hunting rig.

It's a barrel I had cut from 24 inches to 16.5 in 6.5CM. With the season about to open I will be running factory Hornady American Whitetail (wish I still had some leftover 129 SST.) After that I am gonna work up some loads with some old 120 AMAX then 147 ELD-M with IMR 4451 behind both. There will be my 9 inch form 1 can hanging off the end and stock shortened up for his length of pull.

I had great success running IMR 4451 behind 147 ELD-M in my 26 inch rig.

Varget is an excellent powder for the 130 Berger AR Hybrids, was getting over 2800mv in my 16” 6.5x47

Awesome. I'm hoping that by switching to cut rifled barrel and faster powder I can get my MV past 2800, preferably close to 2900. I wasn't too pleased when my 123 scenars were only ~15 FPS faster than my 139s on RL23 out of the same 20" barrel. I just traded 4 lbs of 8202 XBR for 4 lbs of Varget yesterday. Case fill ration was my biggest concern.

Getting 2900 may be doable with a 123 but you are going to be pushing it hard. I don’t think you can get there with a 130, I am running a 6.5 SLR with 130 RDF’s out of a 22” barrel and getting 2925

I am getting 2800 out of my 18" 6.5 Creed, 130 Norma, Peterson brass, CCI450, and around 42 grains of Rl16. Getting the 143 ELDX to 2715 fps with 41.6 gr of Rl16.

Here is my shorty build in progress. I’m waiting on a 16” shouldered prefix carbon 6 barrel and I need to figure out what bipod to get.

Here's how this morning was rolling after I disassembled factory rifle

20201111_113217.jpg

Ended up with this, all assembled then test fired/zeroed today

Life has been crazy so I haven't had time to reolad, so I snagged factory Hornady American Whitetail 129grain

After dealing with a bad scope at first, a friend stepped up to the plate with awesomeness and we slapped this Leupold on and zeroed.

I was running low on ammo, hence the 2 shot groups.

Just posting data collected

This is for my 7 yo son. I'm thinking about posting a DIY thread just for informative purposes since I have seen a lot of talk about youth setups leading into hunting seasons.

Ended up shooting as seen above at night........WOW 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 even without NV....just awesome. I see the value and purpose of XM-3 program now (not claiming mine is anywhere near the level of that system)

I'm officially addicted to shorties now !

Bergara Ridge SP 18” in 308. Now if my Deadair Nomad would get released from jail I would be a happy hunter.
