So I'm trying to figure out a few loads to try for my XD40 using Longshot powder and Rainier 165gr copper plated (that's plated, not jacketed) bullets.

Rainier Ballistics' website says use lead bullet loading data, and if that's not available, just split the difference between min and max loads for copper jacketed bullets of the same weight. For Longshot and 165gr jacketed bullets, that's 7.3-7.8 grains.

The Lee load manual says go 10% lower than the starting load when using lead bullets vs. copper bullets.

Sooooo, advice, wisdom? Thanks.

I load a lot of Berry's in 9mm, and just use normal jacket load data. I think the thin jacket really only becomes and issue if you exceed their max fps recommendation:
"Velocities depend on the caliber, but as a rule of thumb, we recommend you don't shoot our plated bullets over 1250 feet-per-second. Our 44's actually shoot best around 1150 fps. 45's are generally good at 850-900 fps. Our bullets are not recommended for magnum velocities over 1250fps unless the bullet description denotes a thick plated bullet with a higher listed maximum for velocity."
