17 hmr build, chambers? throating? what to know?

rimfire hiders, I am planning a Rimx build (lefties available soon) would like to know wisdom regarding 17 hmr. the cartridge is perfect for some of the western squirrels we have.
what do I need to know before yanking the trigger on a barrel?

Have built a couple... but have not been ground squirel hunting lately, so I have not been shooting them.
Bolt actions are fine.
I did build a 17M2 on a 10/22 that blew up in my face
