I've noticed the newer 7.62 SD's use the 51 tooth mounting system as opposed to the older versions which use the 18 tooth mounts. Of course, I have one with the 18 tooth mount. Is there a way to convert my can into a 51 tooth mount?

Its a more secure mount. I've never had (knock on wood) a single problem with my 18T system.

Everything I've read from AAC says, you can't convert.

While I've never had problems with my 18-tooth 762-SD I do wish mine had the 51-tooth mount. It is a superior system. I have seen some of the 18-tooth suppressors back off a little while shooting. This backing off was never enough to potentially cause damage to the suppressor but it sometimes was enough to open up groups.

You would have to modify that rear of the tube. I don't think they will do it....

I actually think I saw this happen today Book.

Man, that sucks. Sorry to hear it. I wish AAC had some kind of upgrade option for us 18-tooth users.

Re: 18 Tooth 762SD to 51 Tooth

Had mine back off on two occasions.

The first time I figured it was just due to not getting enough "mustard" on it due to having the cover on.

On the last match it loosened enough to miss some shots that were automatic.

The can has had about 3k through it with no attention.

Now after cleaning the interface surfaces it deffinatly locks down better.

Running a casual brushing on the mounting surfaces will become part of my routine after firing.

Agreed.

AAC said no soup on 18T to 51T.
