20" White Oak Krieger "New Owners" Build & Test

I reached out to the new Owners of White Oak who purchased WOA from John and moved everything out to Nevada.

I had a nice long conversation with Mary, her and her husband are the new Owners. She told me they hired a AMU retired gunsmith to run the machines and their goal was to keep the quality high and the wait times down. But like everyone else they are struggling with blank makers wait times.

I got 2 barrels from Mary. Both 20" for testing to compare to all the other WOA barrels i have in the safe.

The Krieger was ready to go and she shipped it right away. The shilen was not ready, they had the blanks and need to machine it. Sending my bolt to headspace to the barrel.

I got it all out together and took it out for the first time today to zero and adjust gas and get some rounds down it.

I have a few ammo cans full of different handloads I used today.

All shooting was done from the bench with Atlas bipod and rear bag from the bench at 100yds today.


I shot 5rds of 55 FMJ-BT H380 handloads to get a rough zero at 100yds.


I then shot a bunch of 5 shot groups with various handloads to see how she shoots and get some rounds down it.


I would say this barrel is going to be a shooter. Shot really good with 60 TMK's and 55 VMAX's..

I then shot some 77smk and 77 tmk pulls from American Reloading all over 26.4gr PP2000MR all run on my dedicated 5.56 automated Dillon 1050.

While this load has ES/SD's on the higher side, it was shooting some good groups.

Looking forward to starting some load development now.

Kriegers are fantastic barrels, I prefer Bartlein, but have several Kriegers as well. Never had a Shilan shoot great, I am sure they are good but had three from Rainier and am sworn off them now. New owners of WOA seem to have a great plan and start, looking forward to their success!

I have multiple WOA Bartleins and Kriegers in the safe and they shoot great. Ive owned exactly one Shilen Ratchet 1-8 223 AR barrel and it fucking hammered. My buddy also has has a shilen ratchet that hammers

Are they still using Wilson's for their house barrels? Why didn't you get on of those?
Unless they really screw up the chambering, I'd expect the Krieger's & Shilen's to shoot.

That im not sure but Ill ask Mary.

I bought what their website said was "In Stock" but in the end the Krieger was ready to ship and the Shilen they had the blanks but needed to be machined. Maybe I'll just add their house barrel too.

I shoot XTC/Service Rifle comps and I've used both their Wilson and my current barrel is one of their Shilen's.
They are/were both fantastic barrels. The Shilen is seriously the fastest cleaning barrel I've ever had.

This fall I'll be pulling the Shilen and I expect to order another one to replace it.

This good to hear, my experience with Shilens were back a ways when Rainier marketed them under their brand and I had 3 that were simply horrible.

Their new barrel maker and gunsmith is retired USAMU Staff Sergeant Ben Cleland.

Ben fired the first-ever perfect score of 800 with a service rifle at the 2019 Charlie Smart Memorial Regional in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on 1 June 2019.

The 800-point course is 20 shots standing in 20 minutes at 200 yards; two 10-shot rapid fire strings sitting at 200 yards in 60 seconds each; two 10-shot rapid fire strings prone at 300 yards in 70 seconds each; and 20 shots in 20 minutes prone at 600 yards.

My two accurate AR uppers are WOA Bartlein service uppers! Really happy they are going to continue to live up to their history. May have to see if they will do a heavy bartlein/Kreiger ( not service profile).
