Did you dump your mic sensitivity as low as it will go?

What camera and mic setup are you using? The fact that i cant hear you speak *Directly* at the camera tells me something is askew here.

Looks like it was just set out 75-100 yds away and zoomed in on the shooting location. You couldn't hear the pickup drive up, but you could hear grass crunch while walking toward the two rifles at the beginning. Some sort of wind diffusing fuzzy thing most likely.
Regardless of the camera or mic, it gives someone that doesn't have the chance to shoot suppressed, an opportunity to hear how they sound in direct comparison.

We have all seen videos online where the suppressed gun shot "sounds like a .22" but it's very difficult to judge when you don't have an unsuppressed shot to compare it to.

Videos like this give you that chance. I'll probably have to do one like this with pistols from a down range perspective. 9mm Glocks and a couple 22 pistols.

If you think something is askew here, your gonna have a rude awakening watchin our vid with some of the kill shots using this can!!!
the camera is set up 50 yards infront and 50 from the rear, zoomed about 3/4 zoom, and its a sony HD XR550, with an external mic with wind screen, so all wind is filtered.
we've got a particular kill shot with one camera man behind us about 100yds, and all you can see is a puff of powder when he shoots and the thud of the round hitting the dog, the other camera i'm runnin right beside the shooter (2ft)from the muzzle and the impact on the dog is darn near as loud as the muzzle blast... either way there will always be skeptics, just trying to inform as well as the camera mic will allow, knowing some guys don't get the chance.

I was just curious. I edit video almost every day, so i was wondering what happened when your audio suddenly tanked off the face of the earth out in the field. Were you using a shotgun mic? The pickup pattern should have gotten the sound better.

You really can't portray how a suppressor sounds like in a video posted on the internet. And why have the camera 50 yards away from the muzzle?

nope its not the shotgun mic, its the sony ECM-HST1 High Fidelity Stereo Microphone, works great but eats the batteries a bit faster.

i'm just trying to give an idea to those who never have used one, or heard one for that matter... and the reason for having the camera 50yds or further is because most of the time, thats how far a dog or dogs are from the business end of my rifle, it is to portray what the sound does further away using a suppressor, and what possible effect it has on a call/shot shy dog that may be a distance off, and as you can see, the further away, the better off the distortion of the muzzle blast which may have an advantage on a skiddish dog.
