Picked up a side charging upper, and while running 88 eldm factory loads, during the function check, the gun sounded different on the last shot, before the bolt jammed forward. I had to use a dowel to tap the bcg backwards out of battery after a misfire. There was an unfired round in the chamber with no primer strike. Any ideas what happened? I mostly shoot bolt guns...

It sounds like the casing was out of spec and got stuck in the chamber. I had it happen with a batch of Nosler 308, it was just very tight. I still have some of it, I can run it on my bolt rifle but in my 2 ar’s it does what you described every time.

I kinda wondered this...it happened right after switching from Federal...I'll measure both lots...thanks!

Yup. Didn't fully chamber probably due to being out of spec. Instead of beating the bolt back, drop the mag. and use a screw driver to pry gently between the carrier and barrel extension. Usually a simple twist of the screwdriver is all it takes.
