.260 ladder w/ 7828ssc and 140gr Amaxes

Here's a ladder I did yesterday with 7828ssc and 140gr Amaxes. Appears to be a definite lack of vertical from 46.2gr to 47.7gr. The grid is 1cm and the ladder was shot at 300 meters. Within the node, looks to me to be <1/2" of vertical, which at 300m seems pretty good to me. I'm going to load up some with 46.8gr for accuracy testing.

Warning! 47.7 and 48gr are too hot, leaving definite ejector marks on the Lapua brass.

I would say you could go from 46.8 to 47.1

Back up to 500-600 yards and you will get better defined nodes

Perhaps I don't have a grasp on how a ladder test functions. Am I not looking for a range of charges with minimal vertical dispersion? This target shows less than .5" vertical dispersion from 46.2 to 47.7gr. at 300 meters. Is that not what I'm looking for? The lower charges clearly have more vertical dispersion and 48gr jumped up off the top of the target. What am I missing?

Are you using Lapua 260 brass, or is it something else you have formed into 260?
