Gunsmithing 284 magazine fed repeater

I am thinking of going this direction at some time but on a long action 12#+/- long range hunting rig so as to get the most out of the cartridge but run it with AI magazines. With the case diameter the 284 is, would you run it in a 300win mag magazine or would it be better suited in a 30-06 magazine? Curious if anyone has done one in a "light tactical", long range hunter or PRS rig....

I am currently building a 284 Win with a Savage 110BA LA action in an MDT Oryx chassis. I am currently waiting for the McGowen barrel which is being throated for ELDM 180s set at 3.24" COL. I am using Magpul PMAG MAG671 (30-06) magazines. My rounds feed perfectly with these magazines in the Oryx chassis.

Previously I tried building a 284 on a Savage SA however there's just no way to magazine feed long/heavy rounds. It shot great, however I was limited to 162gr bullets.

I'm planning on building a hunting 284 Tikka, but haven't yet. That said, I don't know why you would need to go with the 300 WM magazine, the 284 is shorter and only slightly wider than the 30-06. Here are cases for the 7mm RM, 30-06, and 284 Win with a 162 ELD-M (no barrel yet so seating depth is just what looked good). The 284 feeds just fine from the Tikka 6.5x55/30-06 magazines.

I already have 3.850 M5 bottom metal. I have no intent for building this as a PRS rig. It is a long range hunter. I was curious if anyone else had built one in a mag fed repeater and what parts they used.

I built my first 284 Win on a Savage SA which is limited to 2.86"-2.95" mag feed. I want to load to 3.20+ COL so I went with a Savage LA and I'm using the PMAG MAG671 (30-06) magazines which give me plenty of length (3.34").

I think a 30-06 action/magazine would be plenty long for 180/190 gr bullets in a 284 win.

Mine is a 6x284

19" Win M70 LA I used for matches.
Rebarrel in 22" 6x284 in a T4F
I use 300 WM mags pinched ever so slightly but I have a pair of MDT 30-06 mags ordered.

I use unmolested AICS .300WM CIP 3.850 mags with my .284 Win., ARC Nucleus in KRG X-Ray and Bravo chassis' - feeds flawlessly!

With all the room in the CIP mag, the .284 rounds can be seated forward just like 6BR and Dasher rounds in AICS mags.
