I am building a .284 Shehane and can not locate loading dies. I have been told that the factory .284 loading dies will not work with the .284 Shehane. Can I take the .284 Shehane reamer and work on the dies or can the .284 Shehane dies be purchased ready to go ? Kinda lost here.

I don't know the dimensions of a .284 shehane, but I believe it is an improved version on the straight .284, therefore a wildcat, and dies aren't likely easy to find for cheap. Maybe Redding? I would guess that your standard die has been hardened, and likely will not take well to pushing a chamber reamer in there, but I am not 100% sure on that.

You can also have the reamer run in the sleave of a redding die. The sleeve is NOT hardened on Redding dies

If you can put in another round and fire form 3 pieces of brass, many die makers will custom make some dies to your chamber. Just call them and ask them the price and procedure they would like you to follow.
