Brake is fitted and I've got the 1st coat on along with the texture.

I got a kitchen pass as Kalli has her pageant stuff tonight for the little ones (jr Miss America thingy. . .)

I'll be here late. Soon as the texture flashes in the oven I'll be laying down the first panels.

    More to come!

2nd coat applied, stencils peeled and she's about done flashing off in the oven.

I'm fuggin DIGGIN THIS! I used to HATE/DESPISE/LOATH/BROOD over painting. Now its fun and FUN makes it much better to do!

    So far so good Dave!

Your late! The shop bodyguard told me that you guys would be there from 7 AM on. I guess it doesn't really matter as I haven't left my house yet either

I'll be by the shop this afternoon to see your ugly mug with some gifts.

We don't use cerakote to paint our stocks. I bought 20 gallon cans of different tones of a paint. Carries a Mil-Spec yada yada.

I sent them the sample coupons from my cerakote inventory and had them custom blended to match.

Cost me a ton of mulah, but was worth it. This stuff sprays awesome!

BTW: I chickened out on the little bolt engraving idea I had. It would have ate up most the day farting around with it. Playing it safe.

I was at the shop when this came out of the oven and It looks and feels very nice. It also looks a lot heavier than it really is. It is pretty light in all reality. Should be a real shooter.

As per ussual your work is impeccable, very nice. I think you are going to have to have your better half pick out some girly colors for my better half's rifle and make it a surprise.

I thought the same, but seeing this digital camo has me thinking otherwise.
    Excellent work Mr. Dixon!!

    Dave were supah close.

I bought you a CDI DBM setup using AI magazines. From the research I did, it seems this brand is the only game in town for this stuff.

I've used them twice before with Winchester/Winchester type actions and each time it resulted in me dickering around with it a bit to get it running the way I wanted.

    This was no exception.

In the past I had to whittle on the magazine release. There's a pair of holes drilled in the release mechanism that allows for a different height in relation to the pin. With it in the "as is" position the magazine runs lower than what I like. It rattles around like a marble in a can. In the other position its good. A little too good as the feed lips just barely drag on the bolt.

I used to just buzz a little off the top of the catch to make it work. Ran fine but the holes for the pins aren't exactly "nice" so to speak. They are closely placed and can easily become deformed due to the ultra thin wall thickness surrounding them on the sides. The other issue is the reset spring. It gets to be a bit tempermental as the relationship/angle changes between the latch and the floor metal.

SO, we draw some pictures on the puter and make our own! I whittled one out of a piece of mild steel and positioned the hole (just one now since we know where we want it) in the right place related to the edge that catches the magazine retention. I adjusted the length so it put the magazine further into the well. Better support of the magazine inside the box and more overlap between cases and bolt face (never a bad thing)

Then I saved the file for next time! Easy stuff now!

So, I'll blast her up and squirt some C Kote on it so everything matches nice.

Only other fiddle I had was with your 3pos safety. It was being a little "resistant" when engaging so I worked it over a bit too. Now she runs pretty nice.

Plan to wrap this up today and get her shot in the am.

I've worked on it a bit. 2-1/2lbs is about as good as it gets with a Winny M70 trigger. Anything less than that and they get cranky.

A trigger this weight that breaks clean though isn't hard to shoot at all. Plus its nice for cold weather when fingers are numb.

Also- Replaced your striker spring with one of my high chrome/silicon springs. Yours had seen its day I think. The new one makes it a bit snappy-er now. Same wire that's used in high rpm valve springs for things like schizophrenic NHRA Comp Eliminator engines.

Awesome gun build. Congrates to the new owner.

Chad, for the Winchesters, those CDI mods you did were because of the 300WSM round or do you have play with all of them?

Im thinking about going with the CDI to build a 308 using a Win M70 also.
