I'm considering building a 300wsm with my extra Rem 700 wsm reciever (i have the receiver already or else if build a 300win mag). I shot A LOT of 7wsm with 180gr VLDS threw short actions and never had a issue. Bullet wise I am thinking about running the 208gr AMAX, and 200gr hybrids. GAP or RWS will build it. For my stock most likely it will be either a AICS AX chassis or a Manners T5. AICS mags are a must.

Anyone run this combo threw AICS with front plates removed? How do you like it?

Have a 300 wsm shooting Berger 210VLDs. Got some mags from alphaindustries which work great. Owing to the extra length of loaded round and mag (no spacer) had to notch the feed lip in the receiver to allow bullet tips to come up from the mag into feed position. No probs.

Loading 60.0gr H4350 (HOT). Almost 1800 rounds through barrel, still shoots great. Getting about 2775fps.

First long range rifle. Shooting FT/R now to learn wind.

I ran one on a surgeon short action for quite a while, around 3k rounds. I used standard aics mags with the plate removed. 95% of the time I was shooting 208 Amax's, I generally ran R19 as I had 20lbs sitting there when the rifle was built. 65.5 gr gave me 2815 out of a rock creek barrel finished at 22" with norma brass, this was not a hot load for my rifle, I could run it over 2850. In my experience the 300 wsm was incredibly easy to load for, I would compare it to my old 6mmbr, dang near everything you put in it shot well. During load development with mine I shot 13 different loads initially at 100 yards, not one grouped over 1/2". I regret selling that rifle. Shooting a long action 300 win mag now, when this barrel is gone I will go back to a 300 wsm.

why stress on removing plate on aics if you can get accu mag or alpha mag.im running 7 saum 180 hybrids(very long on short action) im using wsm accu mag.im using ax i also tried using t5.imo ax looks nicer but i like t5 feeling more comfortable..and its cheaper means more ammo fo you
