.298 vs .300??? In the planning stages of another 308 MAINLY dedicated to pushing heavies sub-sonic. What bore dia would you recommend?

Not sure of the bore, but if it will be a sub-sonic only, the twist should be 1 in 8" to get a stabilizing RPM on the rounds.

With a subsonic round you dont need the extra pressures that the tight bore does for ya. Go with a regular 300 bore and use a tight twist like a 7.5 to 7.

The whole point of the tight bore is to get the higher pressures and velocity. For subsonic there's no need. Bore not really important I would be looking at the twist rate for your given bullet choice.

try running 32 cal. lead bullets through the .300 bore. there's a guy at my range doing it accurately and safely.
they are loaded with 6 gr of something, i cant remember what off hand but it is a popular powder.
i imagine your trying to push out jacketed .30 cal heads for variety, but this could give you another option.
