I just had Jon Beanland build me a 30BR in a benchrest rig and man let me tell you this is the single most accurate rifle i have ever owned. I personally think there is a place for a 30BR tactical rig.
Now this this being said, I feel like the 30BR is only valuable out to 500 yards, maybe 600. The studies show that most all shot are taken withing 100-200 yards. If this is in fact the case then this chambering can not be beat. I think this hole idea is more inclined to police type work rather than military. I really dont know were i am going with this but i just wanted you folks to no and think about this chambering net time your building a rifle intended for closer range work. The 30BR needs a slow twist barrel and it will shoot up to 125gr bullets. Not very heavy for a 30 cal but the accuracy of this chambering is whats so special. The 30BR will push a 125gr bullet at 3100fps with H-4198. I think the charge weight is around 35gr. Way more efficient than a 308. You can read all about this cartridge on 6mmbr.com. there is a small section aimed towards tactical use for the 30BR. I am really taken by the accuracy and the easiness of loading for this cartridge. I dont know how it will feed from a magazine, but like the 6br it can be made to work. This is a great chambering that needs more consideration. Lee
